Typical rehab stay is 28 to 30 days. He could easily be back for the playoffs and get off relatively cheap with the league--but he'd have the weight of that on him so no more clubs or even a drinking picture on social media. A rehab is a popular redemption narrative, whether serious or not.

Police not charging him gives Silver an easier out, too. The lack of proof (that we know of), no charges, and "I have a problem" storyline could let Memphis keep him away for long enough that he avoids league punishment. Silver could say "Time served is enough, and he's getting help."

If I was Ja, I'd prefer faking my way through the gun thing than coming out as an alcoholic/addict. Easier to never have a gun than never have a beer.

Eh. I've seen some pretty passionate arguments about the Grizz being way better without him and his negative DWAR Raptor 27/8 slashline.

Pretty sure the narrative last year was they'd be just fine once he went down in game 3.

I suppose Tre 'Songz' Jones has been playing fairly decently in his absence though. Props to him for the effort.

Memphis/GS would still be really fun just because of all of the talking. And Phoenix/Dallas would be an offensive explosion.

Been in the Philippines for over a month and not really experiencing the news cycle in the US. Did watch a couple Memphis games a few weeks ago.. Ja looked pretty good. Feels like ages ago with the current sentiment on him, and I'd be lying if I said I wasn't a little concerned with the recent developments and having a sizable Morant stash... but I'm still hopeful for the kid. Key word: kid. I'll bet he gets it together in time. The short term upside has been nuked but he's still getting a lot of publicity as a polarizing player which isn't necesarily the worst for his hobby future. He's anything but invisible. Might be a strong buy in the off-season, but need to tread carefully. Kind of funny that all the concerns were about his health before but now it's all about character.
