From a long term perspective the black should do fine in an 8. I like to think of them more like the PMG's of the 90's due to condition sensitivities. While 10's sell for a big premium, I think 9 & 8's should still do very well.

As for the clears, I think PSA does a pretty bad job at grading these and are super inconsistent. Clear plastic is not uniform and scratches so easily. Some of my clears should not have graded as high as they did, and others looks clean and came back 6/7s. It's strange.

On the plus side, at least they are authenticated!

yeah, you can't expect a conservative company to change their MO, but I do wish the shoe had a colorway that included blue or even a strap. That would have received a lot more demand. Oh well, they still got my money.

While I had hoped at least one of these to be a 9, I knew there were some flaws with the condition.
PSA did a good job overall.
Welcome to the 2020 FF red club! Those are some tremendous cards. Now let's find the super

They have tightened the clear grading, but it really depends on grader. I pushed my luck and submitted this one twice and was a 9 both times. Oh well

Thank you for your condolences. Please consider donating to the PSA 9 foundation to spread awareness about this tragedy. It could happen to anyone.

Wanted to initiate some discussion!
Any predictions for Ohtani's final statistics this year and if you think he will win the NL MVP?

Also was wondering what people were buying lately and how the market is going for the Ohtani market you collect.?

Seems like low end RC raw cards keep falling in price. Graded low end RC seem to be doing better than raw. Medium end RC cards also seem to be trending down. I am actually a little surprised because Ohtani seems to normally peak around the all star game.

I have been buying a ton of low end RC lately with the market falling. Scored one really great deal buying at 2021 mid season prices!

If you think Sho won't win MVP, you should place a bet. Think the odds are like +800 for the field.

High end up, low to mid end down. I am feasting on rainbow foil US1/700 PSA 10s. Great sweet spot of undervalue.

we are now 6+ years out of the 2018 releases for the most part. why are the raw cards being sold raw? i understand that people dont mind raw cards, but down the road are people going to be will ing to "pay up" for raw cards?

At this point, I am ecstatic when a raw higher end card achieves a 9. And no, I'm not being facetious

Completely agree about rainbow foils in terms of being under valued (can't comment specifically about PSA10). Similar print run to the gold /2018 at a fraction of the price...plus the foil gives it some pop compared to the base card.

I basically only buy raw cards (and rarely PSA 9). In general it seems like topps did pretty well quality control wise in 2018. Now I agree most raw cards on Ebay are PSA 9 or worse. But I still find plenty raw that I think are gem candidates! Most raw base cards do seem to be picked over by now.

In general, I don't buy Ohtani 2018 RC base cards anymore...but I did pick up a large lot the other day from a seller that was liquidating his collection and told me all of the cards were packed pulled. I should be getting them soon!

I’m hoping for .318/46hr/115RBI/1.000+OPS, 42 steals and NL MVP.

Ohtani will be on the hunt to add another first/unicorn accolade to his resume. The only player to win MVP as a DH. He just needs to remain on course and hope the voters don't screw him.

I can answer this from my perspective. I by no means have any high-end Ohtani rookies but I have an absolute truckload of various base rookies and several "better than base". I have just never once submitted a card for grading and I keep meaning to research deeper how to assess which I should send in.

I suppose I probably should because I've kept all of the cards in the condition they came out of the packs and if prices are down then seemingly the premium PSA would hit me with is lessened.

Anyways, there ARE good raw cards still out there!

there are always exceptions for sure.

but if someone is doing this card thing to make money, then it would be in their best interest to slab before selling.

i get that grading can be costly and/or time consuming, but the benefits cannot be denied.

heck, of someone doesnt want to pay PSA prices, SGC is very affordable especially at bulk rates

Some of the best raw cards are in BGS slabs
