You know how on the highway after a accident, traffic is bad because everyone wants to look at it? That thread was like that. It was like watching a car crash

Thanks - I bought it last May.

Yes - much thicker than a normal US175 (similar to a patch card).

That's neat. You buy it slabbed?

When I saw his thread, I felt like replying but decided it is better not to respond to such people. The best way to make them silent is not to respond at all and report to administrators/moderators and let them handle it. Imagine how frustrated he would have felt if no one had replied to his OP. He went full retard and went home empty handed

Perhaps someone who missed out on Trout's cards when they were cheap and is pissed off now looking at the prices

I consider myself lucky to jump on Trout cards before he won his second MVP. I honestly couldn’t afford buying his key 2009 & 2011 cards with today’s prices.

I didn't even get into cards until summer 2018, so his prices already thru the roof

I remember seeing his 2009 BC Auto PSA 9 sell between $1200-1400 in 2016.. now it’s a $5000 card. Crazy jump.

Even then that would be a reach for me

The crazy thing is: In 2016, I thought his cards were at his peak.. especially after he won his second MVP. I was absolutely wrong.

People think his stuff is overpriced?

BC 2011 Refractors and Sterling 2011 I think are still way undervalued. Even Update is still under priced.

Heck even his 2009 stuff is still under priced

I look at other sports and guys like Giannis or Tatum or Mahomes and their high end stuff is silly. Trout is a superstar and only 26 with prime years coming up. Buy all the Trouts you can IMO.

I stopped collecting basketball cards many years ago. Not too long ago, I randomly checked on Giannis rookie cards and the prices were INSANE!

Exactly. Just do a recent sale search for Giannis 2013 Immaculate, Flawless or National Treasures. A guy who really has done nothing in the NBA up until this point and his high end stuff is 6k-50k for raw high ends.

Here we have a generational player who is setting all kind of records in a sport where this never happens, yet we see his base 2009 BC card hit 5k and are like OMG!!! That card should be 10k.

I guess it just shows how poorly MLB markets their guys. If Trout was an NBA player, his stuff would be untouchable. Once in a while the baseball guys should pop their heads over to the Basketball threads to see these prices. Pujols/Trout/Harper/Kershaw and any other generational player would be so embarrassed.

This isnt even a pump play. You will never see another guy like this over the next decade. His BC, Finest and Update should be triple the value.

Its because basketball is played globally and has a global collectors market.

This thread needs more cards. So normally I don't like horizontal cards but I really love the look of this one especially because of the rookie cup. Also picked up a few flagship and heritage cards.

Hell I'm happy I got in this time last year. PSA 10 Update for $325 and BC 101, Bowman and Finest for about $150ea. Since its a side PC I wouldn't even look at them for the prices today.

It's crazy how much Trout RCs have increased in value over the past 2 years. I was able to upgrade to several copies of PSA 10 and BGS 9.5 in January/February of 2017 for fairly cheap. I sold a 6 card lot of 2011 Topps Update on 2/21/17 for $510 on these forums to recoup the cost of the graded cards... probably should have just sold something else now that I think about it?

It is what it is. Don't look back. Save up and buy those cards back
