Wow that seems fast? I dropped off at PSA event on 10/17 and I'm still in research and ID, and the other sub started grading yesterday.

In other news I see that some Gamestop bulk subs are being returned already, which makes me wonder if they are prioritizing that service right now to incentivize it

Yeah, this was my fastest value bulk sub ever. I've had good luck so far. My value bulk subs average a month, door to door.

Done. I thought the Baseball Special would take a lot longer. Very nice surprise that it went from Grading to Shipped in 5 days.

28 days now stuck in Green Checkmark Assembly. Haven't received an email and my payment information is up to date. Contacted customer service for the 2nd time and they said they would look into the matter and contact me back as my order hasn't moved. We'll see what happens.

Responding to you again that I've been waiting a few days longer than you with the Green Checkmark Assembly. It seems to happen when the cards are sent to New Jersey.

I appreciate your reply. Yeah, I’ve never had to wait this long in green checkmark assembly. How did you find out your order was sent to New Jersey?

I don't know that for a fact, but the submissions that have taken longer for me have all been sent to New Jersey.

Yeah it's pretty crazy. I sent an October Value Bulk order and a Value Plus order.

The Value Bulk Arrived Nov 1st.
The Value Plus Arrived Nov 12th.

Value plus entered Research & ID today, the next day. Bulk still sitting at "Order Arrived".

1st order finished and getting shipped. The order was mostly (7 of the 10) 1955 Topps and wow, the vintage grading is brutal. Six 4s, one 3, and one 7.5. I would have expected mostly 6s or 7s.

This is not officially documented anywhere, but I believe the interpretation of the vintage grading scale has changed. It used to be a 4 or 5 (or lower) on a card that was otherwise clean meant a crease somewhere. Now—I’m getting creaseless 4’s if there’s a tiny surface indent on a card. This is different because you can have the common “fingernail” indent on a Prizm card, and they give it a 6. Why is it that a much smaller indent (something maybe 1/10 the size of a “fingernail” or crescent moon indent) is a 4 on a vintage card?

I’ve also have had cards with a tiny edge ding receive a 4. A corner ding on a modern card is a 7, but a much smaller ding on the edge is a 4 on a vintage card.

2-3 grade differences in how they interpret these “defects.” And you’re absolutely right—the expectation is 6’s & 7’s on these types of cards.

Couldn't agree more. I have a lot of vintage and based on these grades, the idea that a vintage 10 could even exist is impossible. And to be clear, I didn't mean to sound like I thought everything was a 6-7. I just would expected more than all but one 4s (and the one 3).

For comparison, in this order here's a 4:

and here's a 7.5:

17/40 gems on a bulk order. My worst order in years. Last 3 orders have been so bad. I went from 80-90% gems to 40-50%. Doesn’t make any sense. The inconsistency is only getting worse.

Yep. As a collector, you just want consistency. I’m choosing the cards to send in because I know they meet the criteria I’m looking for on a particular card/grade. I know this because I know the grading scale. I’m not sending them in to “see what grades they get” like grading is a mystery. I’m sending them in to have PSA put them in the slab they belong in according to the same grading scale we have all known forever.

It was PSA who helped solidify that scale. Subbing cards after reading their scale with an expectation of the grade—then getting that grade 95% of the time helps define the scale more. Now it’s PSA who is dissolving the customer confidence in the scale. This card x would have been an 8 in 2018 but today the same card is a 5–just because that’s where the interpretation was today. I can’t trust them to get their own scale right right now.

I agree. They were very consistent in 2017-2019.
