Player collectors, 3-5 cards you should be able to find but cant

oh man, Sage basketball stuff can be brutal to track down, especially anything numbered. Good luck on those.


I'm going to update my 5 that I can't find and focus on lower-end stuff as well. Obviously rare/low-numbered stuff from the late 90s/early 2000s can be very tough to uncover, but many of these aren't all that rare they just never seem to show up!

1.) 1997-98 Collector's Choice Stick-Ums Base Card #B23- you know, the ones with the silhouette of the player instead of the player that NOBODY EVER FREAKING KEPT. Can't recall having ever seen the Mitch.

2.) 2000-01 Fleer Stickers- need both Mitch Richmonds (#16 and #92). Were these like a super limited release or something? Just can't find them anywhere.

3.) 1998-99 Stadium Club TRAN First Day Issue #223 /200- yes it's a numbered 90s card, but I saw a couple of these floating around when I first started seriously PCing Mitch about 6 years ago and since I swear they've vanished from the face of the earth!

4.) 2000-01 Fleer Mystique Gold- the 99-00 version of this parallel was 1/4 packs. This version is 1:20. Rarer, sure, but not insanely rare, yet I flat out can't find one!

5.) 2002-03 NBA Showdown base- Yeah, I've barely heard of this product too. Good luck finding one, I sure can't!

#1 - I think only the 1996-97 UDCC had base cards for the stickers. I don't ever recall seeing ANY base for the 1997-98 set!

What?? I don't have #5 for you?? Mitch must have been one of the Star RARE cards in that set maybe. I have a 5000 count box full of these!

Yeah, I think you mean 96/97 for the Stick-Ums base. And in that case there are 3 copies of Richmond for sale on sportlots. Do I get a finders fee??? :-D

And to those commenting above, nope, I mean 1997-98. I've seen the 96-97 ones plenty of times, but there's a B23 listed in 97-98. Not even a description available in beckett for the set. So crazy. Not a single one on ebay either- beginning to think they were never produced.

Strange, those pop up fairly often. I've seen probably 3 copies of the Mitch in the last 18 months. And now that I think about it, the quad diamonds probably look really good with the Celtics color scheme. Hope one comes up man!

Update...finally snagged the last hardcourt /25 along with extra copies of mvp promotion and the two other hardcourt parallels /25. Was at work and checked ebay at 5:30 in the morning, saw a lot with the white whale of 14 years in it. Had to wait 9 days plus shipping but it finally arrived. Outside of 3 1/1s and a promo I cant confirm exist my player collection may have finally reached its end.

01-02 Ulti Coll Platinum RC Patch /25...glad I finally snagged one, there was a guy going after these heavily. Got mine from RB21 ages ago as well.

a bench of cards i never see, not a big player. so i think people who have them don t think someone can be interest. MAinly 1/1 or rare 90s cards.

hope to get one each year but since 3 years only get news cards from paninoche collection not one from 90 s dream card.

Why not also consider just buying an 8 or 9 that looks nice, and where the price seems right? You can always crack it out yourself. I've scored many cards like this, and wound up paying about the same as I was planning to pay for a raw copy.

I lost out on the auction and contacted the winner (back when the winners ID's were actually posted). They wanted double what they paid for it, which was like $150 or something. As a poor freshman in college, there was no way to rationalize spending that kind of money on a card, especially when I just assumed another one would go up for sale and I could get that one. Oh, if I only had a Delorian so I could go back in time and smack that younger version of myself.

4) 2000-01 Fleer Stickers Phoenix Suns Checklist #82 - Another one I've never seen. And considering there's a chance I'm chasing this one with four other player collectors, it just got five times more difficult to come by.

5) 2002-03 Stadium Club Beckett.com Samples #70 - Another card I had the misfortune of losing on eBay years ago. It was listed for something like $0.99 and I was the only bidder. I had put a max bid of like $20 on it, just for a little assurance, but other cards from that set weren't going for a whole lot of money. So I wasn't that worried. Somebody swooped in during the last few seconds of the auction and outbid me. Curses! Never seen one again...

6) 2004-05 Upper Deck UD Promo #128 - Another promo card on my list, but in the 13 years since this card has been released, I've never seen one. I'm not sure what the print run is on some of these promo cards, but I can easily imagine people disregarding them as wanted or valuable and sticking them in a box in the closet somewhere.

So that's my list...three numbered cards from 98-99, a random team sticker and a couple of promo cards. I hold out hope that they'll find their way home someday. Thanks for checking out my list.

Finally found one! It's been twenty years since the set was released, but patience has paid off. It's coming in from Japan, so I've got a long, painstaking wait ahead of me. Best of luck to the rest of you in your quests!
