I have to agree. Is there really a market for $1k Hobby boxes over and over that return 10% more often than not. I'd guess once people understand something like TopShot the next gen will move to NFTs over cards.

But you never know.

Saw Packman open a box. Is auto was a Udoka Azubuike and best card some insert parallel of /49 of Steph Curry. No way on earth should you be paying $850 for a box of this.

These boxes seem absolutely brutal this year. Maybe having Ja and Zion last year made a difference, but the only real chase being Lamelo for rookies has made every break I've witnessed a famine more than a feast.

The last few boxes on Layton *maybe* netted around $50 worth of cards each. Sheesh.

Yup, it won't even take a couple weeks. After the first couple sales, the value of singles take a nose-dive. Been happening all year long. Lamelo holo will follow suit. Already doesn't even cover the price of one box while you can go several cases without evening hitting one.

But of course by that time, Panini/distributors/breakers would have made a killing. Sad state of the hobby when you have a company and small group of people working in cahoots to continuously scam their "customers"

I don’t understand why people never learn to not be the first person to buy base cards of new products. A LaMelo Prizm RC is like 1/3 the price of an Optic RR right now. The optic will be $35 once retail hits.

I just watched that same video and the box wasn’t great, but that Curry /49 wasn’t the best card in the box. He hit a Haliburton Holo and a Jaden McDaniels Blue /59. Both of those will easily sell much higher than the Curry. But still…probably max $200 value in that box.

Probably the same type of people who continuously buy into over-priced breaks. They don't realize (or refuse to realize) that they're still losing money, in increments. And its always the same group of people, especially for the top-tier breakers

$70? That's crazy no way. My guess they'll settle around $20-$30 based on Zion/Ja/Luka/Trae.

Select at $20/blaster and $40/mega, I ripped all I managed to get because it was a no lose, in fact I've doubled up and now have no sealed of it left.

If optic comes out at the new increased retail MSRPs of around $30/blaster and $50-60/mega, man I'm not sure I even want to rip it buying at MSRP. I have a feeling even getting in on the ground floor I'd have to resell some at 2x+ and then put in work on singles and grading and after all that effort, I'd maybe eek out a tiny profit or just break even with some of the unwanted dollar box fodder as free cards leftover.

And this is retail you're talking about. Imagine what's been happening today and over the next couple weeks with hobby. People have been getting absolutely smoked in breaks smh

No way anyone should pay $200 for a box. But people are paying $100 per pack for Select which is just plain silly. There is not a single product out there that should be purchased at these prices.
