This one quickly sold out.

For those interested (if it restocks), it was the 2022 Topps UK BB 12-box lot for $600.

At $50 per box, there's good value in them. Why? You have your usual 2022 rookie (Witt/JRod/etc) chases as well as some decent auto chases (albeit sticker). There's also some rare UK royal family cards to chase too. But what really piqued my interest is seeing some people hit up to 8 numbered cards per box (in the UK thread), with some really low-numbered parallels, and a healthy number of sales on eBay.

These boxes might take a little time to move but they're incredibly low-risk and will be easy to churn a profit on (and, if you want to rip them, they should be quite fun). There's some condition-sensitive issues with the set though.

But yeah, people love 2022 products because of Witt +/- JRod so demand will always be there for this, especially with it being a lower price-point than a lot of other 2022 baseball hobby wax products.

I wonder how many they restocked with and how many more restocks (if any) there'll be.

On a side note, I actually upped my buy to 4 lots (from 3) yesterday.

Also, I wasn't aware of the checklist being condensed to 220 players. Makes it that much sweeter from a ripping perspective.

Not many have sold there recently and once people start receiving their BO shipments, they'll be down to $70ish per. (See 2018 Donruss NASCAR Hobby boxes, for example).

Great rip at that price for sure, though.

They stocked again half an hour ago or so. I grabbed 3 more lots. I do feel there could be a massive flood of singles also if everyone opens and lists. I'm done for good after this last restock.

Chronicles T-Mall: case at $35 per box. You get two SSP numbered cards per box and 4 autos per case. Even the base is SP. It also takes less than 5 minutes to open a box.

Illusions T-Mall: case at $20 per box. Good for set builders, I picked one up. Not a lot of upside but a fun rip that won't take forever.

How is the content 24 Topps Chrome Update vs the 22 version? Similar/very different? If similar, and the print run is probably higher this year, is it reasonable that even with Witt and JRod, 22 Chrome Update couldn't be saved, that then 24 Chrome Update is headed to a similar fate?

I opened 10 cases at $499 a case. I can confirm, they’re hot garbage.

IIRC, the 2021 NPB chrome boxes were going ~$400 at peak during peak-Seiya/Roki mania. I bought a couple cases at $1799 after missing the $1200 BN sale. Love the quality of those cards but forgot how difficult the 2021 design was to read names until I ripped some today.

Don’t know about long term but quality/content wise 2024 TCU is leagues beyond 2022 TCU.

I’ve opened many cases of ‘22, they were $500 here last year and not worth it at that price.

60/40 centering or better with no pockmarks, lines, scratches, chewed edges, or little blobs of embossed chrome aura effect are so rare that I actually thought this would be almost impossible to get psa10’s - like opening junk wax era for grading - and it would therefore be the best ripping product in years!

Unfortunately, the pop reports do not support my theory. Plus, there are 140 base autos, not even close to 1 auto per box, and there’s only 2 autos that are worth more than the box. Mostly it’s junk hits, only 1 real hit of any kind per box, 10 boxes per case.

$250-300 a case would be a fair price and I’d jump back in for a couple more.

It’s like a “The Sad Demise of TCU” support group in here. I hate to see it as the rarer parallels have been favorites of mine going all the way back many years now. You’d think with the now standard inclusion of new base (non rd)cards for the better Topps Chrome rookies and adding so many parallels that they could keep this a fair rip at a modest release price.
The expansion and and dilution of both the base and (sticker)autograph checklists to achieve the print runs/case counts necessary to attempt to “10x the hobby” with poor quality and hideous new pricing has destroyed this product from a ripping standpoint.

People need to realize that most of everything that hits this sale is there for a reason. It’s not a coincidence almost everything is in the 2020/2022 window - they’re sitting on boat loads. Very little from this sale will yield positive results even if you sit on it sealed. The only chance you have is just buying what you think has a shot to yield something and hope you get lucky by ripping. Last year, as an example, Bowmans Best University cases were a decent grab because it had some top name QB autos and low numbered parallels in it. But even then, it was worth busting to sell once the draft hit. Caleb cards are already declining and it looks like that’s going to be the case since he kind of looks poopy. 2021 Chrome NPB is fun but Roki is a pitcher and his upside will always be limited - same with Yamamoto. Blowout selling these now is them selling the hype. It’s not because they think this has tons of upside and they want you to buy it. If you’re looking for a long term investment buy VOO or VT - not the Blowout sale. The sale is fun and because stuff is cheaper than normal - just keep perspective that very little of this should be used as investment and instead should just be “fun rips” or quick flips (if you should be so lucky). The wax that generally goes up in value is because no one else was buying it (either because it was too expensive or interest wasn’t there) and then sudden demand happens. The demand opportunity for most these products is already gone. Jorge Soler and Christian Pache are not going to have a resurgence.

BO's here to make money. If they thought any of their discounted products had a lot of meat on the bone, they'd just sell themselves at market rate.

Maybe every now and then they'll toss us some good deals to keep ppl interested and coming back (and maybe to offset some of their cost/inventory).

It's been said many times but cards aren't a good investment. Buy what you like and rip for fun if you can afford it.
