it was Razor of all things, that broke me of the "Bowman First Auto" addiction.

paid $90 for Jesus Montero's 2008 BCA Refractor Auto in a BGS 9 and called it a day

This is the guy that finally turned me around…. and I’ve got lots more than this. Funny thing is, he’s still in the minors (actually turns 21 tomorrow) and could very much still make it. I’m still rooting for him. It’s just that the initial expectations were so high and built into the insanely high prices upon release, I eventually realized it wasn’t the best way to spend my time and resources. Live and learn. You should see my Scott Kingery collection….

for those of us that have been around long enough, those "difficult to find" cards will always be cool

haha, the Phils finally freed him up and traded him to the Angels, so maybe he’ll get back into flagship next year and I can pick my PC back up. It’s been a pretty lean couple of years

Uh, here's the thing, Hermano -- plenty of 1st Bowman cards don't feature player's in their MLB uniform. For example, Zack Wheeler's 2009 1st BCA depicts him in a Giants uniform. But as a minor leaguer in 2011, he was traded to the Mets for Carlos Beltran at the trade deadline. He eventually debuted as a Met in 2013, and that is how he's depicted in his actual rookie cards.

So you see, Hermano -- the forum keeps chipping away at your claims. Fact: 1st Bowman cards sometimes do not feature MLB player's in their big league uniforms. Therefore, they shouldn't be considered first appearance MLB cards, as they don't actually depict MLB players.

That's faulty logic. The players are wearing major league uniforms of the team that drafted them. It's licensed and an early issue release. It represents their professional baseball journey. Tatis and James Wood are both in this situation, it never hurt the demand for their bowman first cards.

Okay, so it's a draft or prospect card that has MLB logos, but shouldn't be considered a big league release in the same vein as Topps MLB fully-licensed cards which feature actual big leaguers.

Yes, the bowman releases are of minor league players at the time who are wearing major league uniforms.

But why hold that against them after they make the majors? It is the same human being depicted on that first bowman card. I don't need the player to physically be on an MLB roster before I want the card.

What I recall, several Ohtani rookies were released depicting him in an Angels uniform before he even played an official major league game, should they be considered "minor league" cards as well and would you not want to purchase them? Many people still did because the path was imminent, so why not apply that to minor leaguers who will be in the majors one day?

By the time they actually play a major league game and get an official rookie logo card, they've frequently had 2-7 years of releases showing them in their major league jerseys. Most stay with the same organization that they were drafted with.

I am pro-choice, that's why I prefer rookie logo cards. I don't see having a variety of options to choose from as a bad thing.

Many of us are “completionists” with bad OCD. Overwhelming variety is not a good thing.

What would happen if you complete your collection? Where do you go from there?

You don’t complete your collection. You complete sets, runs, etc. I think most of us collect living sets anyways, so it never ends. .
