I live in So Cal and here’s how crazy things are here...

A Ventura County Sheriff’s office employee was among three people arrested over the weekend for damaging a large 'Black Lives Matter' sign in Thousand Oaks. But of course you can tear down a statue of Columbus or anyone else that offends you. Crazy times!

They mean that academia does actively harmful things that we need to change: centering the work of white scholars and erasing other contributions; relying on biased systems of evaluation, hiring, and promotion; inviting police onto campus and into student residences and dining halls; moving slowly to embrace anti-racist pedagogies and ways that admissions tests like the SAT erode equity. Or look at the #blackintheivorytower hashtag for examples of racism in contemporary academia. That is what they are critiquing, rather than scholarship itself. (Though, of course, a rethinking of how we do scholarship will be involved.)"
As Christopher Hitchens would say: this is how far the termites have spread.

It's the reason I hate social programs as a whole. There is no social program that solves a long term problem. The long term problem is that people need jobs that require a skill that offers them a higher paying job.

This makes a perfect Segway to my point about manufacturing. I see two major flaws about manufacturing. The first is that it doesn't require skill which makes it low paying and there isn't anything proprietary. That means unless we stoop down to china's level of ethics, we can never compete. When we do compete it's usually with higher priced items with more quality which is a great thing. Certain things we will just not be able to compete though. Does anyone care the quality of the pens they use? That's why you're more likely to see American made things for higher end appliances. Like I said to clark, if you want to talk about this fairy tale, be my guest. If you actually have a solution about how to get around China's competitive advantage I'm all ears. I have yet to hear a way we can cut our labor costs down to the level China's is.

Let's be honest - we will NEVER be able to compere or compete with China in manufacturing goods cost.....

There are many reasons as to "why" and I will begin to list a few, and by all means - they are not inclusive:

1. Cost of healthcare to the employer, for the employee in the US (I calculate an FTE at 150% of their base salary, and the company pay's the above 50%)

2. Unions - had a time and place, but also add to the cost of goods made in the USA (see above)

3. The consumer - this is huge, we all have an internal quality/cost factor in our brains when we are buying anything - consumers drive sales - period

4. Tariffs - as can be seen on this board, few people actually understand how these work.

There are other items to discuss that make it easy for companies to move manufacturing to another country:

1. Labor pool to pull from in areas of operations

2. Taxes being paid

3. Liability / insurance (NOT health care) - we are a litigious society

I respect the desire to be 100% made in the USA - however, it can not happen. I do not know of anyone here who would pay $300,000 for a house made of ALL USA materials in a community of the same houses - made with items sourced around the globe that cost $250,000.

As I said - I see the desire - however, there are many factors that prevent it from happening.

If the quality of the materials and products are far superior in the USA made house I wouldn't be so sure of that. Just because two hammers look similar doesn't mean I wouldn't pay more for one that lasts and performs better. I actually do that routinely. When I purchase goods, price AND quality are taken into account.

I'd never pay that much for a house because in my area you're buying the absolute best house in town. The taxes alone would likely be $15000 annually. I would absolutely pay that price disparity if the difference of quality was better, without a doubt.

Who do you give it back to. You think Native Americans are all one tribe. They were at war with each other and taking each others land far before we ever showed up.

Thanks MN, though I thought you meant there are articles up about it being a false flag. Instead it's just Twitter trolls being Twitter trolls.

Anyone indigenous to the land. They can be at war again who cares. You wont be here to see it.

To be fair, it's hard to get more outrageous than Smollett claiming that during his "attack," the "perpetrators declared - "This is MAGA country!"

In Chicago.

MAGA country.

Chicago.

Prediction: BLM and Antifa will not tear down the statue of Elijuh Yale, even though he was a slave trader that built his fortune trafficking black people. Why? Elites will not put out the word to their organizations or fund the mobs to take it down because Yale is a core part of their elite identity. And if people try to do it themselves, the university will stop it.

Take your own advice. Being a smartass by asking for links to ones opinions is part of the problem with getting these BLM radicals knocked down a few notches.

I'd like to see someone ask Chris Cuomo and Anderson Cooper how they feel about their degrees from a university that celebrates a slave trader.

Having a degree from an institution built on slavery and racism like Yale, Georgetown and Brown should disqualify you from politics and government.

So opinions don’t need to be based on anything? And those opinions are also not allowed to be challenged? How safe-spacey.

No, they don't.

Opinion - I could beat you up, despite your appearance of knowing how to use the nunchaku. I don't have to add links to validate it - its my opinion. You can challenge that opinion all you want, but don't act like it is discredited just because there aren't CNN articles backing it up.

CNN wouldn’t be a good place to link to back up an opinion. But yes, if your opinion is based on nothing, it has no merit, even if you are an expert in that area.

Opinions don't have to have any merit at all to be an opinion. You are wrong yet again.

I am calling on both parties in Congress to pass the Strip University Credentials Act for every American university like Yale, Georgetown, and Brown who are founded by slave owners. I’m calling it the SUC Act.

End university racism and these monuments to slavery. #SucAct
