With the Dodgers lineup, you don’t really have a choice. Betts, Freeman and Teoscar are no joke. Even the 5 - 9 hitters have a lot of pop.

They would’ve lost either way but I am not pitching to the guy with over 50 homers and steals. At least make him run the bases instead of jog around them.

I am seeing a LOT of new Ohtani signed material popping up here in Japan. More than I have seen in the previous 10 years combined.

Speaking to the Kanji auto, since these first appeared back in 2018, I have always had my concerns about the potential for a wipe and re-resign given the massive premium these fetch. I would also add that I have the same concerns about many other cards from other players with inscriptions that could have easily been added after the fact.

I would do a lot of due diligence, and not lay out any big money until I had some sort of official confirmation from the issuer (Topps in this case) that the card was originally signed in that manner. Note that PSA only authenticates the card, NOT the autograph, so a wipe and resign would be very easy to get graded, but leave the buyer exposed with no guarantee on the auto.

Only BGS grades that stuff. PSA may grade it, but they aren't putting some missing foil label. If they notice the foil is missing, they will reject it.

You can create your own missing logo with some nail polish.

Isn't Shohei "signing" his name in Kanji the equivalent to Mike Trout just writing "Mike Trout" in print on a card rather than signing it?

Yes, it is the western admiration for Kanji (which is heavily derived from Chinese characters) that is driving demand. He's literally just writing his name like he would on homework.
