The prison sentences handed out to Mastro, Allen, etc., didn't seem to be enough deterrence. I sincerely hope the FBI makes an example of PWCC, as well as all those implicated by BODA, and puts an end to all of the trimming/alteration/shilling nonsense once and for all.

So many hobby middlemen produces an environment ripe for fraud. First-party grading will provide a huge step up here.

It would be interesting to see who the grader was for Katz and Co. submissions.

These were additional PSA 10's from the same submission that I either could not find a before sale of or I could find a sale but the images were too poor a quality to use as proof.

Nat, if your taking a break from the Basketball section, is that grader still grading for Katz and Co.?

I have a pretty good idea who it was but I'm not going to write his name without being absolutely certain. And yes, he's been with PSA for quite some time and he's definitely compromised. He is/was part of the "good old boys" club along with Sloan and Orlando and he needs to be shown the door.

Anyone who grew up in Canada like I did in the 1960s (or 70s or 80s or 90s....) can attest to the fact that 1963-64 Parkies are among the most plentiful of all vintage hockey cards in Mint condition. They're easy to find and back in the day, shop owners had a lot of excess sets for sale that were basically stale inventory. The Red Kelly is not a difficult card to find and the fact that someone would trim an 8 to get a 9 shows how truly desperate (and depraved) some card molesters have become. The FBI indictment can't come soon enough for these card trimming clowns. Rich Katz and Gary Moser really did a number on Parkhurst hockey from the 1950s and 60s. Between their trimming and another dealer's bleaching, it's getting really difficult to find sets that aren't littered with altered PSA graded cards.

Johnathan Miller, Scot Maxwell (former PSA grader), Nate Johnson and Rich Katz had primarily sold
their trimmed cards on Ebay via anonymous consignment through PWCC until they were outed. They appeared to
have turtled up for a little over a year before resuming to dump altered cards once again using PWCC.
312 outed them in August of 2019.
This and the card above were sold in January of 2021.

And another trimmed PSA 10 purchased on the same day from the same seller as the card above.
This one was sold at a show or somewhere else that did not trigger an online transaction record.
The PSA 10 seller likely purchased it from one of the OCSI guys.

PSA Cert #42755475

PSA #42755474

PSA 10

Cert # that immediately precedes the Armstrong card above.

Trimmed on the right edge.
Sold for $365.00 through PWCC.

Prior image is front only and in poor quality.
Proving it's the same card is too difficult.
It's the same card though. Paid $23.00 for the PSA 8.

1950s and 60s Parkhurst hockey do not have rough cuts. O-Pee-Chees do. I do not know why these card molesters keep adding slight rough cuts when they trim an edge of Parkhurst from this era. If anything, that should be a clear red flag to any TPG that the card is altered.

It's working obviously, why change?

When certain people submit cards to certain TPG, the grading room is simply looking long enough to give them a number from 8 to 10? The type of assessment you are suggesting is only used for the common man's submissions.

Only in the bizarro world of TPG deference does a 1961-62 Parkhurst card of Dick Duff get trimmed. It's an indefensible trope--a perfectly illustrative microcosm--of everything that's gone horribly wrong with third party grading.

The following Lou Groza card and PSA cert # immediately follows the Sid Gordon PSA 10 shown below.
At one time there were two 1954 Bowman PSA 10 Gordons.
The other one was submitted by Johnny Adams, Jr. and had been outed as trimmed by Superdan and eventually
deactivated by PSA leaving just this Pop 1 that was submitted by a known card trimmer.

This is so insane. Such good work.

With today's values these people are probably making a killing.

Your eyes must be deceiving you. If PSA says it's a 10, then it's a 10.
