I'm just saying that players really aren't "contenders" - teams are. It's really not that difficult of a concept.

It's not an excuse. I don't think Luka has played on a contending team yet - just like the 2018-19 Lakers weren't contenders even though they had superstar LeBron James on their team (and a better squad than the current Mavs).

That's why most people who discuss basketball don't say that Luka has underperformed at all - usually it's the opposite.

People aren't asking him to contend. It's not that difficult of a concept. Just start with a series win and if you're a Superstar come in to the season in shape and ready to win, not whine.

Also, you do realize the 18/19 Lakers were 4th to 6th favorite for the title right?

Something that wasn’t outrageously manipulated to where it got. Color match be damned, it’s insane what that card goes for. That $90k sale isn’t on Card Ladder, so I would ignore it. But consider that when a $78k sale occurred on October 23, a BGS 9/10 Flawless Star Swatch Gold sold for $55k just two days later.

So my issue isn’t that a $50k card isn’t high end. It’s that this one is hard to believe the true value is what’s claimed.

So it's high-end from a sales value > $50k but due to it's journey there's a feeling it's been highly manipulated...can't the same be said of all high-end Luka? Who's to say Luka NT Gem sales aren't manipulated, that was a 20k card 2 years ago and now it's $800k with the last sale in March for $570k.

Can do that with every card then. Bron TC Gold BGS 9.5 was a $50k card two years ago, no? Pretty sure that’s what Pram bought it for. Now it’s likely $1M plus.

Some prices seem right. Some don’t. Some cards have a high-end feel. Some don’t. That’s just how I look at it. And yes, that NT 10/10 price was insane.

Over what time frame is Luka down? Let’s take a look at his Card Ladder index.

December 20 - 17,497
November 20 - 17,381
October 20 - 17,440
September 21 (no 20 available) - 16,002

The peak in the index came on October 27 at 18,002. October 23 to November 18 is the only stretch in the history of the index where it was higher than it is today. So no, not all Luka cards are down. People tend to overweigh their own experiences to that of the bigger market.

There are probably 15,000 collectors with a PSA 10 Prizm. They've all seen that investment drop.

There are probably 75 collectors (if that many) with any NT RPA /99. They've seen that investment stay the same or go up.

So you're going to have a lot of folks thinking the sky is falling when overall it isn't.

The best measure would be percentage of cards up/down. But I don’t know anywhere that is available.

Silver lining is that so much of the Western Conference is a mess right now.

-Denver has Jokic and a bunch of scrubs
-Lakers are missing AD and Westbrook isn't working
-Blazers have fallen apart
-Kawhi still out

Dallas doesn't sniff top 3 in the West this year, but after that no team is very strong

Yes. I don’t believe it can be traded since they traded the 2021 pick in the KP deal.
