DJ Skee was the owner of the Sapphire Supefractor. He paid $60K for a nice little profit.

Goldin got Ohtani’s 50/50 HR ball. They will be auctioning it for the owner

Better sell it before he hits 2 more HR's.

Then we rinse repeat.

If he does that then to me that 50/50 ball isn't worth the price. Would be a consolation prize to whoever missed out on the 55/55 ball

I still think it has value and is an important part of Baseball history. That was quite the game and a pretty incredible achievement. Maybe we will see more accomplishments like this, maybe we won't.

I'd rather have the bat he used to hit #50. Ohtani actually touched that bat. He's never touched that baseball.

How do you even validate its the exact same ball? Does MLB microdot it or something in addition to the hologram sticker?

Yes, they said that they had "subtly" marked the balls that were in play when he came up with the chance to hit #50 so that they could verify it later. Presumably that marking is still on it. I'm sure they've also got a ton of photos documenting the very specific wear and tear/bat marks etc. on it now.

*Holy grail post

I usually do not post cards before I receive them, but it just got authenticated so I'm comfortable talking about it. It has been a journey to acquire this card due to a difficult seller. You can read about it below or just skip to the card.

Back Story: The Global Grandeur was made for team samurai Japan's championship team in the 2023 Topps WBC set. I decided early-on that this was a card I needed to have and opened boxes dreaming of Shohei's 1/1 WBC grail. Of course, a week later (December) someone posted the pull on Reddit and broke my heart. One month ago, I saw it appear on eBay (now graded) and excitedly messaged the seller if they would take an offer. I offered $5K upfront to hopefully bypass any bidding, but the seller said that $3K seemed fair (which it would have been, but was weird). I said great, and then the seller went dark. A day later, they took the card down and relisted the card on auction with a BIN at $5K. My guess was that the seller realized they negotiated against themselves and wanted the $5K afterall but was too timid (or chicken s---) to ask me. I shrugged and went to hit BIN to find out the seller had blocked me! I was super irritated but ended up buying it on my wife's account as a BIN. The kicker after that is that it took the seller 16 total days to actually ship the card after three boldface lies about it being on the way. My guess is that Sho going on a tear gave them second thoughts that they might be able to get more for the card. I finally reluctantly sent a message that include the words "grand larceny" and "local police" and the card magically moved the next day. Even after it moved, I was nervous whether the card was in the package. 24 days of worrying is going to end with a happy ending. It's a crazy world.

Will post the full (mixed) Global Grandeur set when I get the card in hand.

Congratulations on the card and I’m sorry you went through that with the seller. But glad it worked out! Beautiful card and congrats!

It was right before Sho prices went en fuego, but yeah, I was afraid of somebody as crazy (crazier) as me to bid higher. I'm sure it would happen now.

Yes, but unlike our friend above I'm not going to break the "no posting before holding" rule, even though mine made it through authentication too

I am also superstitious to that rule

Don’t really have it until it’s in hand

I have a ticket stub from his 1st MLB HR game on the way I likely overpaid for. Its probably more rare than those bogus 50/50 HR game tickets in any case lol.
