Very unfortunate. Never understand why sellers set a BIN that they don't honor. Cards go up in price, sure, but that's on the seller to keep up with that and raise prices accordingly.

Don't get me wrong, I love Ronald Acuna Jr, but I think the hobby shift is definitely real. Baseball CAN'T TOUCH basketball and it's insanity with prices, but there are collectors looking for that to happen in the baseball world. Trout is the only player in that realm, but they are looking for others to do so.

Pecking order now:

Trout

Tatis

Juan Soto/Luis Robert

Ronald Acuna Jr
Kyle Lewis
Vladimir Guerrero Jr
Judge
Insert random hot prospect
Insert ace of the week (Bieber, deGrom, etc)

Poor Kyle Lewis is going to be irrationally disliked by so many collectors when his stats and prices bottom out.

They won't bottom out, he'll still have his place.

But he's a perfect example of how the baseball hobby is trying hard to find it's footing to compare to the basketball market.

These new collectors with deep pockets are not the type who buy-low, sell-high in 4-5 years. They want immediate results.

They started to dive into Kyle Lewis and saw his prices jump accordingly. There was no slow climb like literally everyone else, including Trout, Tatis and Acuna.

I have at least 300 Tatis rookies, maybe more. The problem is having to go through 50 monster boxes to dig them all out. I am so disorganized and yet so happy to know my disorganization has led me to hold onto cards far longer than I normally would.

Nice problem to have

I didn't realize until recently that his base 2016 Chromes are getting $60+ now. I must have around 50 of these in my boxes....but no idea where to start to find them. Happy hunting!

This morning when I woke up the seller refunded me the money on paypal for no apparent reason (and did not write me to give any explanation). Sellers on ebay need to understand that this is not right and their are consequences to your actions.

I am not sure if he is a member on this forum but I would advise not buying from him in the future

Seller mrainshark24 name is Mark Rainieri (mark.rainieri@me.com)
I nabbed some stuff at a really good price last night, and I fully expect the sales to not be honoured.

All things being equal, would you prefer a base auto, or a serial'd refractor say sub /150

Kicked myself for not grabbing a PSA 9 410 for $30 when I had the chance.

Was scouring Sportlots, just on the off chance I could find some more raw (bought a couple for $15/ea two days ago) and was pretty happy to find a 2020 Topps 168 Independence for $40. That seems like a steal, right?

Yeah, modern baseball cards won't ever touch modern basketball. The fan base is like double of baseball. And with every new generation there will be less baseball fans and even more basketball fans. Basketball is global. Baseball is limited to the Americas.

I'm a baseball card collector, but that's the reality.

Honestly, in 5 years (or less) I can see certain vintage basketball cards be worth more than vintage baseball cards (not cards like 1952 Topps Mantle). But I can see a 1951 Bowman Mays selling for less than a 1957 Topps Russell, a 1954 Topps Aaron selling for less than a 1961 Fleer Wilt etc., all in a similar grade.

Breaking a TC Update Blaster right now.

Just a Rookie Debut of Tatis.

Very true. Basketball embraces a lot of the global demographics in terms of marketing and it's has paid off big time. Unfortunately, baseball is stuck with the old white man market from the US. Good news is that the Asian market IS starting to grow. Having Korean baseball televised on ESPN is a step in the right direction, but it has to continue to expand or it will never catch up.

I had a 2019 TC refractor PSA 9 listed at $99.99 BIN which was priced high to begin with. Thought about taking it down to see where things settled after last night but someone bought and paid for it this morning!

Correct. I've been leaving the retail sets on the shelf at Target (they are the only thing baseball related around me), but not anymore.
