This question is not in relation to Shohei but this is my favorite BO thread and I trust it's regulars to know their stuff. I'm considering purchasing a pretty big rookie parallel card from flagship of a decently big name in the hobby. Call it top 20. I'm wondering about value differences between Father's Day Blue, Mother's Day Pink, Independence Day and Black. I've searched comps of "hobby decent" and "hobby good" names with flagship parallels of rookies in the last 7 or so years. Here's my general feel with Mothers Day being a baseline:

Mothers Day: 1.0
Fathers Day : 1.1
Independence Day: 1.5
Black: 2.5

Is this around everyone's understanding of value premiums for these parallels? I want to make a good decision and yall's expert opinions would be helpful. TIA!

if i were to spend significant real money on one of those parallels, here is my thinking

Black - Best Option
Indy - Only 2018 or 2024. the other years all have their own "issues"
Fathers Day - Still Good
Mothers Day - this one is easily worst of all choices. Pink, like Green and Purple, have that retail stigma/stink to it.

Mothers' Day is a team color match at least for the Angels.

Of the multipliers you listed, indi seems like the best value. Black is obviously most desirable.

From a value perspective, it just depends on year. 2018 was excellent across all parallels so you shouldn't elevate black too much (some, definitely) and shouldn't knock pink/blue too hard. If it's 2020-2023, i'd only buy black tbh.

Agree that pink has a stigma, but it works well for some players (like Sho #700) imo because of angels colors.

Haha, I know. I was just trying to make the point that "it depends." I feel that any card in 2018 that accentuates those parallel curtains is a nice card.

all, not some of, 2020 - 2023

SOME of the 2019s look ok, but the lack of any BLUE in a USA paralel is a MAJOR flub

Thanks everyone for your feedback. There's no blacks around ATM so I'd have to wait it out and not sure I want to chip.in that kind of money. I'm going back and forth on a Father's Day and an Indy. I'll let yall know what ends up shaking out!

FYI Eric - the indy is not a 2018 or 2024 but I feel like it stands out more than the blue in this case, though they both look nice!

I might be biased as its the only pop-1 none higher in my Ohtani PC lol.

I really loved how this card was listed on MySlabs when I bought it:

"Ohtani Camo 22/25"

Had I not just been doing a search for "Ohtani" I'd have never even found it.

There is a BGS Pristine out there (that sold on ebay for $9.7k last year) but that card has worse corners than mine.

Great card!

And yeah, BGS graded some camos that were absolute turds 9.5s. I graded one hoping it would get a 9 (way back when) and it came back TG+. Sold it immediately cause I couldn't stand looking at it. Felt like a lie.
