Textbook definition of stat padding at this point. If he gets hurt or pulls a Trout in the playoffs then this will look really, really bad in hindsight.

Great collection man! I love your big stash of Heritage base, it's just a great looking throwback baseball card. (Not throwback variation lol) I'm also down with your stack of flagship complete set base, to me it's an underappreciated card. Great horizontal pitching image!

I'd love to see the full stash when you have time to get some new pics. You've mentioned numbers before so I thought the 5 pics looked a little light lol.

I had a full shoebox full of Ohtani RCs with some nice parallels, also had a stadium club auto and a gold minted. Had to get rid of the whole stash in 2019 when I got out of control on the credit card and had to save my marriage by liquidating everything. I ripped over 10 cases of 2028 Topps Update, had over 100 of every card including golds of Sho, Soto and Acuna. Had multiple SPs of all 3, had a soto Gatorade Bath, a Soto '83 Gold Auto etc etc etc. I was buying cases of hobby and jumbo for $500 each on credit with my local LCS lol, he was just trying to blow through his cases for some cash flow and I couldn't believe how packed with goodness those cases were. Sigh.

Got back into the hobby in 2021 right before Sho started mashing in Spring Training. Fortunately when I got back in, almost all I was buying was Ohtani. It was all so cheap and I have always been a true believer. Was able to acquire so much low and mid end, hundreds of RCs. That decision has helped my family eat through some very lean years in real estate for me, and for that I'll always be truly grateful. I probably graded over 100 Sho RCs with PSA with about a 70% gem rate, and now I have -

3 significant Shohei RCs left. I kept the best 2 and my other favorite (Heritage Action) and am thankful I've been able to do that at least.

Your base stash takes me back to what was and what could've been for my collection if I'd been able to control myself better and sell more real estate. It's all very bittersweet but it is what it is and I am who I am. Glad you've been able to hold on to your stash man!

I know I've related pieces of my story before on here, but I guess I needed to reprocess everything today. I appreciate this thread more than yall know, it's been a brightspot in my life and Shohei Fandom and I appreciate everyone that contributes here, including you Sean for sure!

I would imagine there are a fair number of us who live with "issues" and share similar struggles. Keep up the good fight and stay true to yourself.

The Sho thread is a great place to be compared to a lot of the other threads, IMHO.

I am leaning into enjoying what I have, and not worrying too much about what I don't.
