A few factors (1) he’s a PC guy and easy to root for…:
There’s two ways to look at his carrer trajectory up to this point (a) he’s only throw 300 innings in 7 years or (b) he’s only 4/5 years removed from posting back to back seasons with a 7+ era at d3 and already has elite major league stuff. Only really comp to this is a guy that played SS first few years in college then got drafted don’t throw a ton of innings but developed similar stuff and turned into best pitcher of all time (Degrom). So if he cna stay healthy and even continue to develop the potential is just off the charts (2) in terms of being under rated he’s about as hi as they come d3 guy undiagnosed diabetes added bunch to weight and velocity and most importantly (3) in the non degrom world he has the best pure stuff in baseball. Yes if his future is As closer (until he obv gets traded) then worst case he’s a cheap PC guy but I don’t see anyway the aaa don’t move him back to the rotation once he can stay healthy (and becomes the face of Vegas basbeall) or another team trades for him and then does the same/. In terms of raw stuff I view his upside as little better versus of gerrit cole https://youtu.be/Z2Je8-rSCpY?si=rjsCSDExSgXky8px I can’t imagine watching this (I watched every start) and not spending $20 for a chrome update gold auto. These came today
![]() Sold one of these Silseth Xfractor autos for $32 a couple weeks ago and bought this one back for like $7. Yes, shipping and fees are a thing but still….essentially used the back cheese on this fancy flawless Ashby card for $12(free.99) still enamored with those stupid pitching ninja videos from awhile back. He’s a one of the more intriguing post hype, post injury guys I’ll be watching this year( Meyer and Baz are more in the forefront) curious to see how Paddack looks next month too.

"the pitch that broke phyics" video I assume? must have watched this 100+ times already. Agree he is pretty interesting prospect but have not seen many of hit hi end cards for anything close to reasonable. He does have some pretty cool RPA in triple threads and a few have some pretty sick patches for relatively cheap prices

Agree- and those $15 NTA RPAs are tempting to me too, licensing be damned. I recently got a sapphire gold/50 of him which I like quite a bit. It feels like the 2022 TCS(not update)guys are maybe a bit undervalued as there wasn’t very much broken it seems so recently been on the lookout for for Ashby, Ed Cabrera, Detmers and a few others.

![]() ![]() I know Black & White isn't a super popular set, but I love some of the parallels for it (also helps its a dual PC card- shame they don't have dual autos in this ![]() |

Here’s someone I think is a pretty good gamble and had a few very big cards available very cheap (similar to crochet). If you throw sinkers 102 and get a shot to start there’s a lot of upside. Main risk is they use him as an opener only and only get to go 2-3 innings.

Yeah ^ I’ve looked for his cards a few times recently and didn’t really see any nice bargains. Ya never know..

I'm excited to see what Joe Boyle does this season. I hated to see the Reds get rid of him because I really loved to watch him pitch in the minors. I tuned in for every start. The walks were bad with the Reds but the strikeouts were electric. And somehow leaving the Reds fixed the walks last year. Here's to hoping it's actually fixed and not a mirage.

83.1% zoneContact% last year would put him 8th best (lowest) among qualified starters. I wonder if he takes a little off the velo as a starter, has a little less movement, and maybe can be more efficient (in zone). 58% ground ball rate last year...that's a good way to get outs. Would be 2nd highest among starters, after Logan Webb, another Giants starter... ![]() How is the Giants infield defense? It doesn't look great, at first glance. Matt Chapman to the SF Giants, please. ![]()
