Oh I'm still excited to see Maxxxine, but after really enjoying X, I just thought Pearl was a step back. It was a good origin story, but was hoping for a bit more bloodshed.

Just watched Speak No Evil on Shudder. Oof. It gets a little rough. I enjoyed it, though.

Is Bodies, Bodies, Bodies a horror movie?

It's a horror film with comedic elements or else a comedy with horrific elements, I suppose, depending on how funny you find it to be.

I don't think it's for the BO crowd. It seems like most of the horror stuff discussed here is more "traditional" horror.

"Terrifier 2", the return of Art the Clown, is playing for a limited 3 day run through Saturday, check your local listings. There's only one screening I can get to, Saturday night, and I'm going to try to make it. Will have review Sunday, if so.

Each your popcorn quick, but save the empty bucket. It's nearly 2 and a half hours long and is not rated.

I saw "Terrifier 2" last night and it delivers!

There was also a behind-the-scenes featurette at the end of the film with Damien Leone (Writer, Director, SFX) and David Howard Thornton (Art the Clown).

Saw the new "Jeepers Creepers: Reborn". Still a faint echo of what made the first one so great, but it's a step up at least on the second one, which was so all-encompassingly terrible, I've never seen the third one to this day. (This reboot is the fourth film in the series, overall.)

On the other hand, the new "Hellraiser" (on Hulu) was pretty good. Not approaching as the original classic, but right there with the solid sequel. (There were plenty more of those after the first two, but I tuned out around the third or fourth movie, thanks to the same diminishing returns that immediately befell the original "Jeepers Creepers" series).

This is surprising as there are like five consecutive Hellraisers that were terrible. After 3 (which wasn't that good), they just get worse and worse... like unwatchable levels of bad. Ima check this out either tonight or tomorrow.

I hate that the initial director so thoroughly tainted this series that most people won't even hint that they enjoyed the series.

Jeepers Creepers is hands down one of my favorite horror franchises and the second one is actually my favorite specifically because it completely ignores the common horror tropes.

The beast grabs the kid in broad daylight to open the movie and then the father immediately starts crafting weapons in the barn to go hunt the creature. Too many horror films have the humans acting like idiots and wandering into the monster's domain or have the monster strangely afraid of crowds. Creepers 2 has none of that. I love that the monster doesn't give a #### if people see it. The scene where it's licking the window and pointing out exactly which kid it wants to eat stands out to me as exactly how all-powerful demons would act if they were real.

Seeing Frenzy's post and a release date for Barbarian on HBO, I just wanted to stress if you're going to watch Barbarian you should GO IN COMPLETELY BLIND. I think it will make for a better experience.

Hmm, I guess I could try watching part 2 again with my older eyes, but I can't imagine I'll be able to get my wife to as she hated it with a passion and I watch most movies I see with her. What about part 3? Did you like that one, too?

The Hellraiser box has definitely been upgraded for this one, and it's pretty cool. It's like a Rubik's Cube from Hell.

Watched X last night on Showtime and really liked it. Look forward to watching the rest of the trilogy.

"Halloween Ends" appears to be streaming now on Peacock, one day early.
Will watch it shortly...

I just finished Hellraiser. Very solid. I figured I’d check Peacock… just in case. I had checked a few hours ago and saw Halloween was still “coming 10/14.” I don’t care how good or bad they are… I’m always hype for new Halloween or F13.

For whatever reason, it went live for us at least 4 hours ago.
We just finished it, and it's a worthy conclusion to the trilogy and the Laurie Strode story overall.
It starts off with more setup than usual for a "Halloween" movie, but once the kills get going, there are plenty, in a wide variety, and very well done.
Two severed thumbs up here.

I thought it was crap. What a shame to end it with such a bad movie.

I thought it was interesting, but I was looking for Ends to redeem the trilogy after Kills. Kills was entertaining but had no real story or flow, even by Halloween standards. I’ll probably prefer to stick with 2018 as a stand-alone film. It had a fitting ending and serves as a great follow up to 1.

Yeah, just the original and 2018 alone make for a pretty good yarn.

I personally loved Ends. It was not the movie I expected but it’s the movie I’m glad I got. A decent tweak to the formula and a movie that lived up to the Ends title for sure. I’ll be rewatching on Peacock this weekend.

I thought it was fine. The whole trilogy was just ok to me. They were light years better than some of the other ones we have had over the years. Here is the thing with Halloween(1978), it wasn't gory. It was creepy and brutal. It made you look over your shoulder, lock your doors, and peak out the window. That's what I want with a horror movie, to feel uncomfortable. I didn't get that with this version. It was still fun and I'll rewatch but not what I hoped for.

* Spoilers, obvs *

To me, 2018 was awesome, and it was just downhill from there. I was getting Scream vibes with Ends, and that's not how a Halloween film should feel. Looking back on the trilogy, it felt like they had something really great with 2018 and then didn't know what to do with it after that. I much prefer 2018 where Laurie outwits Michael. In Ends, she straight up whoops him in one on one kitchen combat.

I appreciated the direction of the film in that they did something different, but it didn't quite do it for me. Myers went from going super saiyan at the end of Kills to being reduced to an old man in a costume in Ends, shopworn and showing a young buck the ropes.

Haven’t seen Ends yet but the new trilogy, while good at times, really needed a character with a Loomis level of presence. Not a copy, but someone with that much charisma and impact.

my Halloween movie marathon so far (between Tubi/Shudder/HBO Max)

Frankenhooker: All timer
Hatchet 1/2/3: All wonderful
Victor Crowley: Not so wonderful
The Bunnyman Massacre: Loved it
Bunnyman Vengeance: Hated it

101 Scariest Moments Countdown (Shudder) I'm liking it about halfway through so far, new episodes every Wednesday.
