No exact #s, but blue = rare, yellow = rarer, purple = rarest based on previous years.

Certainly from a condition perspective, I would agree. Since purples are regionalized (Meijer) are purple (shows whiting on corners easier) and in blister packs (no protection), I think it’s going to be tough to find a PSA 10. The Walgreens yellows that I have seen almost all have surface / corner damage. I found the Walmart blues to be the most expensive to acquire (mega boxes, blasters, fat packs), but were in the best condition.

Has a rookie player ever appeared in Update and then Series 1 or Series 2 the following season?

Step 1) Buy tin
Step 2) Open tin and remove chromes and anything else valuable
Step 3) List the opened and skimmed tin at above the store price

Genius!

I received my Judge tin in the mail today. Nothing exciting card-wise inside as I added just 2 cards I needed. I mainly bought it for the tin.

You're right about the condition on the yellows. Top left corners are brutal this year.

Discovered 18 tins last night. I only wanted one to check out. Never expected to be able to pick one based on the cover. So now just wondering what the total checklist for that is.

I saw:

Acuña
Baez
Bellinger
Judge
Trout

Are there any others?

My tin was nice. The 70 Years Chrome was a 2008 Al Kaline. I will be on the lookout for one of the 2013 Yelich cards. Tin also gave up a full-black parallel 1986 style of Devers. Sharp card.

They had 4 packs of 2021 Topps at Walmart today, so I bought them for my Son. He pulled a Blue Joe Adell RC and a Rainbow rookie worth about $10.

I ended up buying both cards for him as he wanted to order a Pokemon booster box online with his own money, so now it's costing him less.

Slowly starting to see PSA graded cards on ebay. I guess if you get a PSA 10 and flip it for 2x what it cost to buy & grade, it's worth it, but you better know it's a 10 and do it soon.

EDIT: here's a PSA 10 rainbow if anybody was curious

Pre-order hobby boxes now $174 on Blowout? This is disgusting!

So I busted a few tins today and noticed that certain cards were on different stock than the standard: Alec Bohm, Christian Pache, Dylan Carlson, Joey Bart, Casey Mize, etc. They are all on the same cardboard as Topps Opening Day (which was manufactured in Italy).

Considering some of the very very very terrible card conditions in the first run of hobby boxes, blasters, hangers, etc. it seems the reason for the delay on the tins might have been to replace certain rookies. That said, 6 tins resulted in 9 grade-worthy rookies...

So don’t ?

And realize that if they go back to normal prices , it will probably mean your collection will take a minimum 50% value hit ?

This is probably the last time I will track prices for this release as they have mostly normalized when compared to other cards. These are for golds. The tiers are very clearly defined at this point.

Carlson,Dylan
Bohm,Alec

Adell,Joe
Mountcastle,Ryan
Pache,Cristian
Dalbec,Bobby

Bart,Joey
Gacia,Luis
Anderson,Ian
Madrigal,Nick
Mize,Casey
Sanchez,Sixto
Gimenez,Andres
White,Evan
McKenzie,Triston

Pearson,Nate
Ruiz,Kiebert
Paredes,Isaac
Taveras,Leody
Patino,Luis
Sanchez,Jesus

Dalbec is the only player who is meaningfully up since the first time I did this on Feb 27. The biggest beatdown belongs to Pache. He's lost 70% of his value. The next biggest beatings belong to Adell, Pearson, and Garcia...three guys I was chasing at the start. Thankfully I didn't get much.

As a group these guys are down 40% from Feb 27 to Apr 12.

Great list! I hope Nate Pearson returns from the IR strong, and Jo Adell can grow a bit defensively. The guy had the weight of the world on him coming into this season.

Another big issue with this release is going to be card quality. I think (hope) the pop report reflects what I have seen, which is compared to 2019/2020, most of these cards are trash out of the pack. About 1:10 seemed grade-worthy.

The RCs almost certainly are all on the same sheet, based on how they appear in packs. Maybe at the very end of the print run they might carefully use a different batch of stock for that sheet but I would seriously doubt it.

And does anyone really want Topps to create 500,000 PSA 10 RCs? No scarcity, no Benjamins.

Somebody rushed to get a Bohm Black graded and it came back a PSA 6. The ice cards have awful centering, and any of the parallels that are colors all seem to have 1 white corner. This one looks like it has 4 soft corners and chipping too:

Yeah, sometimes the hardest ones to let go are those limited numbers / parallels. I just pulled something similar and shed a few tears. That said it’s just a reflection of the condition; it’s still a limited card.

10% is about where I'm at on sending to PSA, granted I'm buying everything from ebay. I've got a monster box that I'm waiting to open. When I do I'm going to inspect every single card and get a truer percentage to figure out how much is the good cards getting picked through and how much is crappy condition straight from Topps.
