It looks similar to his short signature he does in a crowd. This is one I got from him at spring training last year.

Have been getting shut out of mostly everything lately, so picked up a couple of bootlegs as a consolation.

Actually kind of dig the 4/4 Athlete's Foot edition quite a lot, though I do find socks of another person to be kind of a weird thing to possess even in this form.

Yep. He does the normal one for cards and stuff he is paid for. He does the other for ip signings

Anybody know what's the story with the Topps Update Clear #'d 9/10?

It sold on ebay a few days ago, but then was re-listed. And now the listing is ended again, but without a sale. Assuming it sold through another avenue, I'd be curious to know what it went for.

"Holy crap, I just met Ronald" - Like you unexpectedly ran into him, yet you have an 8x10 taped on a piece of cardboard.

"Caught him getting out of his taxi" - So you were waiting for him/knew where he would be?

Then you were "lucky" enough to catch him, but "security kicked you out"? Of where, the parking lot? Hotel?

AND you happened to have a ball on you?

Seems much more like you were stalking him, rather than a chance encounter as you made it seem in the first post.

Even if he is your age, that's still weird.

Also two others for 83 and 89. Probstein is a MOFO for FOMO but the market is still strong. You can bet by February first that you won’t find one for less than $85, and it’ll be at $100 right after the super bowl

I was hanging out in the hotel lobby because I knew a bunch of players were coming in town for chop fest this weekend and brought a bunch of stuff to get signed, because along with cards, I collect autographs. Ronald just happened to be one of the guys coming in, and was he very nice to sign for me.

But if you think grown men paying thousands of dollars for pictures of a 21 year old on cardboard isn’t creepy, but meeting a famous person and asking for an autograph is, to each his own I guess?

I’ll make sure to not share my cool experiences in here next time...

Imagine being a sport card collecting Boomer introvert worried about some millennials running around getting autographs !

It’s ok to buy topps cards signed by him because topps paid him to sit down and then charged you a premium to buy the product. That’s if they don’t sell it out to “members” and then let them mark it up 500%.

I’d cry about that before I worry about some kid chasing a car with his favorite player in it. Long time collectors should be fighting that battle organized instead of word pillaging some kid/fan. Need more fanatics for baseball if I’m not mistaken.

Or all you old dudes would never do that to one of the possible greats of your time. Cause you were the Fonz or Travolta from grease...

You said security kicked you out, so clearly you werent supposed to be there.

Again, "meeting" a famous person by chance in public/at an airport is much different than "waiting in their hotel lobby with a bunch of stuff to get signed because you knew they would be there".

But, to each his own, I guess.

Collecting cards and chasing players for autographs are two completely different realms of the hobby. Unfortunately, some people like the poster above, collect cards as well and we all get lumped into the same group.

There are alot of really weird people on here. While staking out a player's hotel with an armful of merchandise is definitely f'ing weird, the dude is 21. He could very easily look back 5 years from now and think yea maybe I shouldn't have done that. Give him a break boomers
