Default Indy's Comic Picks for 6.1.16

Indy's Weekly Hot, Cool and Collected Comic Picks for this week!

Batman Rebirth #1 - Pick up a copy or two to store away. Yes it's heavily printed, yes, there will be plenty, and people will tell you that this issue isn't going to be worth anything.. That's what people said with the New 52 Batman #1 and we all see what that book did in a few years time. Batman is a solid buy and hold IMHO.

Mighty Morphin Power Rangers Pink #1 - I don't expect this to be as short printed as the MMPR #0 a few months ago but demand may cause a quick sell out.

Renato Jones One Percent #1 - 2ND PRINTS HIT this week!

Civil War II #1 - Keep your eyes and ears out on this one. Marvel did a good job keeping the content quiet and tomorrow you may see a run on this if it's earth shattering.. If anything, perhaps grab a Hip-Hop Variant as it's pretty solid.

Hip Hop / McNiven / Party Variant

The McNiven would be a solid pickup if you find for under $40ish, and each store "should" get a Party Variant which could prove to be rare if 1 per store which they're rumored to be.

Also, check out Invincible Iron Man Vol 2 #10 - Something may be going on in this issue.

TMNT Bebop & Rocksteady Destroy Everything #1 1:25 Variant will be one to look for as well.

BACK ISSUE HEAT - Recent Back Issues you might find in shops that are reselling well
Silver Surfer #1 Francavilla Variant
Lois & Clark #8

Keeping checking this thread throughout the week for additional picks, news and comic views........

And just for fun, here's an informative breakdown on DC and it's rebirth

Interesting perspective on Batman Rebirth #1. Wasn't going to pick up a copy of it but I assume it is worth a gamble just based off of potential upside + I am slightly interested in reading the story to see what it will be like. Compared to the New 52 Batman #1 how much higher printed is this one going to be if any?

Civil War II #1 is what I have my eyes on this week though.

What's up with the sudden rash of $9.99 Deadpool comics?! It seems like every 5th issue is becoming a $10 book!!!

Midtown Comics - The Best Online Comic Book Shop - Buy Spider-Man, Superman, Batman Comics, Toys, more

This is the number 1 after Greg Capullo and Scott Snyder run.

I was under the impression that titles with the Rebirth in the title were one-shots to be followed by the ongoing. it is confusing.

I think you're right. I think this week is the Rebirth one shot, with the standard Batman series starting on 6/15

Batman Vol 3 #1 Cover A Regular David Finch & Matt Banning Cover - Midtown Comics

They make it rather confusing. I think this might be a one shot, I wouldn't go crazy picking this one up.

Yeah it was confusing when I first saw it too basic almost all the titles get a Rebirth one shot and then they go into their regular on going series. Although if this is the first Gotham and Gotham Girl it might be worth picking up a few

SO, THE REVEAL WILL BE IN ongoing SERIES ISSUE 1

hence-good rule, typically avoid one shots and mini series --save your money

And don't forget, there's also ALL STAR BATMAN.....further confusing the issue.

In my opinion, it only benefits DC to keep the print run manageable and quickly go into reprints. Creates hype for the book, which drives more sales. Also gets variant covers out there that people will buy up quickly, further inflating sales.

Not to say they short printed the book on purpose, just that it doesn't make sense to overprint (over the previews orders) when reprints will put more money in DCs pockets than a larger initial print run.

After the disaster that was Convergence and how many copies were left unsold I think you are right on their approach plus it was likely that shops also were hesitant to order in quantity

the good think about convergence was it was returnable foe the shops, if they were smart about it
the same thing is true with rebirth first 3 months of titles are 100 percent returnable
so some shops orders heavy

the reveal was today, in the one shot....the name will probably be in the ongoing series issue 1 or thereafter.

As much as I enjoyed DC Universe Rebirth, the Batman and Superman Rebirth issues left a LOT to be desired...
