Default Rate the New comic you Read

Read a comic this week rate it on a scale of 1 to 5 Smiley Faces. 5 Faces is best. Try to keep it short but sweet.
Everyone join in.

Uncanny Avengers #1 (2015)
ART: Not a fan of the art style in this Book
Story:

Soo many problems with the story in this comic.
Rogue is racists towards inhumans. What why ? A mutant hating on someone thats different.
I will not be buying this comic in the future.

Agreed on Uncanny Avengers. It's a shame because the team line-up had promise.

Chewbacca #1
Art:
Story:

Story moved along, but nothing that really grabbed me. The new character lacks any real agency and I didn't find anything about her all that intriguing. I've seen writers pull off dialogue where one side is untranslated pretty well, but I don't think Duggan was able to do that with Chewie.

Spider-Man 2099 #1

Art
Story

The artwork was good and the story was meh. I don't know how I feel about the new costume yet. I like the "classic" dark blue and red more than the Team USA look.

Artwork and storyline was good, but not great. However, it starts out with a bang and ends with one. Looking forward to the next issue.

The Walking Dead 147

Art
Story

Some excellent dialogue between two major characters really was the centerpiece of this issue. It was pretty heavy.

East of West #21

A little more character building and alliances being made/destroyed. Someone is compromised and others are becoming paranoid. I would have have given it a a 5 but no Death, no Ranger, and no Chamberlain. This series has been the best thing out in the last 10+ years imo, so, if you have the chance to pick up a cheap run or TPB set, I would give this my highest recommendation.

I've enjoyed this series from the beginning. This issue introduced us to the Lizard and a crazy twist to Peter Parker's past!

Was about to post the same thing. Just different emojis. Laughed out loud 3 or 4 times while reading this one and the artwork was fantastic. Really looking forward to the next issue.

Paper Girls #1

Chiang & Wilson is a dream team on art! As a child of the 80's this book did a great job capturing that. I would have liked a little more character development, but overall still really well done.

Really enjoyed the 2 comics I read this week.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Invincible 124
Art:
Story:

They are rebooting the series back to the very beginning to where Mark gets his powers. I guess this is spoilery, but the issue's been out a month. In 123, Mark enters a cave with his brother, and touches a glowy alien. He touches it and Mark wakes up in his younger body around the time of Invincible #1. But the great thing is that Mark REMEMBERS everything that's happened. So it's a great jumping on point, but not a traditional reboot back to ground zero. This was a great read.

Shattered Empire #4.
Art:
Story:

I loved this as well. I've never heard of the macguffin Luke retrieves from the Emperors base, but maybe they will factor into the new movies.

Thanks, I read the first compendium and I never got notified by the library about the second one coming in and I didn't want to start reading out of order. From your review it looks like I can jump in without spoiling much.

Secret Wars #9 (2016)
How many months late was this story ?

Art:
Story:

Did not really care for the story or how it was put together as an excuse for marvel to reboot everything and bring characters from other universes into the main universe.

I liked the book but the story reminded me alot of Star Wars. I will continue to read it though to see where it goes. It was also very short.

Gonna piggy back on this one since it's kind of a big deal issue:

Art:
Story:

Where it goes from here? Who knows. But as a standalone issue and commentary on the current state of affairs over at DC, I thought it was brilliantly done.
