Default Are We cray Cray or What?

I was just looking at eBay and I was looking at presidential autographs.. then it dawned on me.. I can get a past presidents signature.. on a baseball for less than the "super stars" of the baseball world.

So, it got me thinking.. who's signature is more rare: George Bush Sr or Derek Jeter?

eBay search shows..... 276 vs 1,589 is favor of the search titled. "George h W Bush Signed"...

Why do we (people in general) hold athletes in such high regards?

Whatever.. just a thought that came to me..

We pay teachers, policemen, and fire fighters one percent of what pro athletes get paid - we are a screwed up society.

Oh, plus we pay thousands of dollars for pictures of young men on cardboard, we are clearly delusional.

it will be hard to derail this thread.. take and sitting president from the period of 1860 forward and compare to the star athlete of the day and you will see what I am talking about.

I hate when people say this.

What someone like Mike trout does he is the only one in the world who can do what he does. I'm sure the guy who is ceo of the biggest plumbing company in the world makes similar to trout.

The top person in any field makes a lot of money. But we do trade accountant cards. We aren't lining up to open boxes for CEOs of Fortune 500 compines hoping to get a piece of their tie.

It's not the same

Members of the entertainment/sports industry bring us joy.

Politicians do not.

Pro athletes collectively pay a decent chunk of public services via taxes....if the funds ever make it there is another question.

Responses like this are representative of our entitled and spoiled society, where its members take everything for granted.

It's called a hero worshipping and materialistic society. A mike trout autographed baseball really has no additional value to a starving child in Africa.

These collectibles have value simply because the buyer believes he can flip it for more money in the future- and you cannot deny it. How many times have people said, I got it because it will be worth more in the future.

When you are deciding between spending $200 for an auto baseball versus $200 to feed your family for the month, it's a no brainier.

I was 100% kidding.

I could just as easily find something that Obama Clinton or any other politician has done to annoy me.

I don't think it is all about flipping. I know try to flip to buy things I want in my collection. I've had a good couple months, I took they money and bought a PC Item and tickets to the hockey. It's not all about flipping for me

“$8o,ooo a year! In these times!” expostulated one of the writers. Don’t be silly, Babe. Why that’s more than Hoover gets for being president of the United States.”

“What the hell has Hoover got to do with this?” demanded Ruth. “Anyway, I had a better year than he did.”

My boss currently is a great speaking, but is a jackass and has no clue how to lead and motivate besides fear.

Two aren't mutually exclusive.

What did I do? I posted a funny clip. I'm a poor public speaker myself. Why the hurt?

I wasn't saying you didn't anything. I was saying it more like when someone does something dumb and you cringe for them. I was cringing for him.

Poor old George W. I could take four more years of his mess-ups public speaking instead of 4 years of either Hillary or Trump. George W. wasn't a perfect president, but he is better than the mess we have now.

AND FIREFIGHTERS AND POLICE RISK THEIR LIFE DAILY! Not only that, police officers lose respect from the ones they protect.
