At the shows does he only do remarks on certain covers, like his store exclusives or will he remark any cover if you bring him something?

For the last three years, there has been a sign at his booth that said "sorry no sketches". I think he just sells some he remarked in prep for the show. Pretty sure he only signs, no remarks. But who knows... I don't usually flaunt the kind of money that "talks".

He will only do remarqued on his "store exclusives". And at NYCC '16, he did a total of 16 (4 for each day of the convention).

I tried and failed miserably to get him to do a "remarqued" on a blank sketch cover.

Aren't his store exclusives new since right around NYCC this year?

It was SDCC to be exact --- that was when he started with the remarque also!

But I do think he'll have more available all throughout 2016. We shall see!
This kinda made me mad and not at JSC. When you see your remarked covers selling for like double at the same show you are selling them at, I dont blame him at all for jacking up the prices. For a collector like me, it then puts my wallet in more dire straits to just get one piece.

It's the same in any type of collectible hobby... Gets expensive to be a collector because there is a lot of room for middle men to make money. I don't necessarily fault them, but I nonetheless get annoyed when I miss out on something and then see it readily available through flippers at 2-5x the original price.

It's just part of the hobby that you have to deal with if you're putting in 40 hours a week and have a tight collection budget. The more time and money you have to focus on the hobby, the easier it is to get in on things on the ground floor.

Oh man that's gonna be hot. Of course, too late to order it. Wonder if this is a JSC exclusive. If so, I'll do a grading order on it if anyone is interested LMK.

It appears to be an incentive variant. I placed an order for it at TFAW and now it is all gone Hope I get mine, hehe.

This could be a very low print variant, depending on ratio. I am sure the orders on this issue were probably around the 45K, just based on the #1 sales. If that is the case, we would be looking at an 1800-ish or less run, assuming 1:25

The J. Scott Campbell "Time Capsule" book is a great read, I completed it over the weekend. What makes it better than most books in the market is that it has a lot of substance to it beyond the pretty pictures as a sketchbook release would have. Richard Starkings did an excellent interview with J. Scott which was very insightful and entertaining.

I liked the fact it contained a lot of never before seen art, including some childhood renderings too.

So, for those who can appreciate art more so than just speculative value and pretty pictures, it's a great book to get to know more about the man behind it all.

I bought mine off of Amazon at a discount.

At some point soon, I will likely get the exclusive version off the JSC website.

I arrived home today to find a package from JSC and one from Midtown sitting out in the rain. Thanks! I was relieved to find no damage. A little disappointed with the packaging from JSC though. Typical cardboard sandwich inside a chop board mailer. I don't mind getting a few moderns that way, but I would have thought 6 of his exclusive covers would warrant a box. Makes me weary to order a $650 remarked book...

Whoever got one, definitely let us know how it was packed.

I recently picked up the Archie 1 Campbell for less than cover for PC. Archie 1 had a print run of roughly 100K but a gazillion variants. I'd say 30-40K are probably regular covers and the rest split up among the 30+ variants. That should make the Campbell relatively rare
