Default Congrats Ovie!

20th player in NHL history to score 600 goals - I would ague the best goal scorer in the last 30 years.

I was just going to start a thread, was surprised that there was not one for achieving such a remarkable accomplishment!

Great career for Ovie and i'm sure there are plenty more goals to come.

I would say Brett Hull, but that's a bias opinion.

They are 1-2 for sure, but Ovie has averaged more goals per game on average. Hull finished with 741 goals in 1269 games and Ovechkin has 600 in 990 games - figure if healthy, Alex plays 5 more years averaging 35, that will have him pass the Golden Brett. Again, if healthy, which is a big if, because he has wear and tear from actually hitting people in his career, he has a shot at 800.

Ovie has already played the same amount of years as Hull already. Crazy.

You need to check that again - this is Ovie's 13th year and Hull played 20 years - not even close

Super entertaining game last night. Laine with the equalizer made it even better. Great way to win it in OT.

I’d agree with Hull.

I'm a big Ovie fan, but just don't see how he will be able to do it. I think he might pass Hull, but that is about it. He has played far too physical of a game throughout his career and that will catch up to him a couple of years in my opinion.

If not for the lockouts he would do it but now it will be really tough.

Still amazing in this Era.

600-700 now probably impresses me more than 800+ than Gretzky scored and I'm a HUGE Gretzky fan...

I've watched my fair share of Gretzky film and there's a lot of times I just scratch my head at how bad the defense was, the goalies were and how small their pads were...

I know everything gets better by generation, but the style of play just doesn't allow for huge goal amounts anymore, so that many goals is just impressive.

I was just thinking the exact same thing this past weekend. Watched a couple of his goal videos and it looks like there’s a 12yr old in net for quite a few of them. The 80’s looked more like pond hockey than anything.
