Gas...but have Electric. Nothing worse than power being out and you cant cook. Back in the day while its a no-no we used it to heat our house.

I think you get better heating and cooking with gas, but also know with the new magnetic convection one not only requires special cookware but heats much faster and may be a different discussion on its own

Gas for the most part is cheaper than running the elect. stove.

Gas. Being a foodie who cooks a lot, gas gives me more control. The temperature change is more immediate. Bring something to a boil and then a simmer, turn down the flame and it's fast - less contact between pan and burner.

Electric sucks. Boil and turn to simmer and it will still boil for a while.

Since I am on mobile, this reason works for me.

And this one.

There is really no advantage for electric over gas.

For gas stoves, isn't there a risk of carbon monoxide poisoning?

Also, do you see an open flame as being more dangerous somehow?

We have an electric stove at our house. We had a gas stove from the 1950's in our first apartment. It took me forever to get used to the electric stove.

With the thermocouple, generally little risk of carbon monoxide, but it is there.

I have no preference. My husband prefers electric but he does 0% of the cooking. I would much rather keep getting electric for the silence factor. He doesn't like the smell or the "open flame".
