I am thinking about trying the 1950 Bowman set. It is reasonably sized at 252 cards, has several HOFers and I just really like the looks of the cards.

A 1975-94 George Brett run would also be fun, but I haven't decided yet.

This showed up yesterday to add to my PSA graded 1959 Topps Cleveland Browns team set...I got so excited I registered the set at PSA even though I'm only at 50%. Shooting for PSA 8+ across the board and the Brown was a nice get towards that goal.

Now THAT is a nice early Jim Brown.
Truth be known, I looked into getting this exact card in a PSA 8 a little over a year ago, but for various reasons I didn't.
I wish I had taken the plunge back then.

Congrats sir, nice pickup~!

I haven't picked up anything football related yet for several reasons, but my stuff is here. ------> https://www.blowoutforums.com/showthread.php?t=1186757

You seem (Like I do) to want to go after the "very attractive examples" and thats a very strong 8.
Good stuff.

One of these days, I will start my basic "Jim Brown run" like I have talked about several times on the board here.
My buddy "Gustomania" picked up an extremely sharp lower grade example of a Jim Brown rookie, and its in his thread. https://www.blowoutforums.com/showthread.php?t=1129930

His thread is a good one for vintage football, with Jim Brown and Walter Payton being a focus.

You guys are making me think about a nice early Brown as my next pick up.

I started out in cards in vintage then I moved over to new stuff for over 10 years. But a few months ago I moved back to primarily vintage and I couldn't be happier.

I recently picked up a Mays rookie so I would consider this year a success haha. But in general I usually just look at HOF or semi stars with at least a decent grade. Obviously less the name the better the grade.

Short term goals for myself: would like to get 1956 Mays, Williams and Clemente at least in a 5 as well as a Seaver rookie.

Long term goals: would like to pick up a Koufax rookie, Mantle rookie and Clemente rookie, also Gretzky and Jordan Rookies

Extremely long term goals: Would like to get Goudey Ruth/Gehrig, t 206's of the big names (Cobb, cy Young, Walter Johnson etc)

Pie in the sky: have some of the big cards so I thought about trying to do the 51 Bowman set one day.

In the midst of trying to get the 59 Topps Allstar set. All graded only. Eventually want to have all 7s or better, but for now not really being too choosy.
