Strong contact too, not some weak pop fly ball that barely made it. We'll see how Ohtani keeps it together

Ohtani done for the day.
I wonder when we will be able to see him at bat.

Got behind on Braxton which allowed him to sit on that fastball. Well played.

From what we did see of Ohtani his stuff looked nasty as always.

From the replay, it looked like a 1-1 count

Villar basically did the same thing in the 1st inning, bouncing one off the fence for a ground rule double, if I heard the radio call correctly. Not exactly pinpoint command for him but it was just his first live pitching in a while.

Villar's shot may have been more impressive. Roughly 410ft on the ground rule double.

Tom @Haudricourt
#Brewers hitters said Ohtani's fastball was firm but flat. Villar said his double was on a straight fastball and Broxton said same about HR.

Ohtani have received similar reviews about his fastball in Japan as well.
Some people say that his 99 mile fastball can't get as many swing n miss as it seems it should.

Didn't the BA article with quotes from former MLBers in Japan say the same?

If he succeeds, it'll be off the strength of his secondaries.

Hiura is playing 2 games in a row (started yesterday as DH and pinch hit today for Villar).
I know it is still Spring Training, but do players who were drafted just a year ago usually get this much playing time?
I don't usually follow Spring Training that much, so I honestly don't know.

If you ask me, 2nd is his if he wants it. There's a good chance he gets sent down for a little while so the Brewers can keep him under control, but his stick could be a HUGE upgrade over Sogard and Villar. Plus, with them bringing in Cain and Yelich, they're obviously making a push for the playoffs.

If Villar hits in the spring, there’s no way he comes close to the majors any time soon. With Villar’s huge campaign 2 years ago, they’re willing to let him try to get back into his groove. He was playing out of his mind and i’m sure they’d love to get that back.

Dom Smith out with a strained quad; Tim Tebow out with a sprained ankle.

John Tomase @jtomase
Michael Chavis has an oblique injury, per Red Sox manager Alex Cora, and will be sidelined for a bit.
