I don't think people are necessarily saying they known for sure that he's innocent. I just think the trial and investigation was handled horribly, and there wasn't enough evidence to prove without a reasonable doubt that he did it. It's supposed to be innocent until proven guilty. Not the other way around.

I haven't watched this yet but everything I hear is saying that the Netflix show left out multiple pieces of important information to portray the guy as innocent. I will be watching this.

But whether or not he did it doesn't really matter. It's what the cops did to convict him. |

I finally jumped in and started watching last night.
I am 3 episodes in, which is where Brandon "admitted" to being an "accomplice." The kid is 16 and has a mental issue. STOP (just stop right there) This has grounds for being inadmissible from him even talking to the cops. This is not a "friendly chat" this is an interrogation. Any lawyer should be able to get his admission thrown out. He is under age with NO lawyer and has a learning disability? This is really shoddy police work. I cant believe it went any further from here. But then it gets worse. The family is not allowed on their own property during a search. This doesnt happen for 1 or 2 days. The authorities have the place to themselves for 8 days. They do not find the key on the first 2 days. Only on day 3, when the sheriff office is involved? And whoever was recording walking through the Avery house was making comments that have no place in policing. There are so many red flags just 3 episodes in. How it got past this point is beyond me. The appellate court should be revieiwing this. |

my thoughts exactly, even if the show was a little skewed there's enough crap that it shouldn't have gone further. but wait, it get's worse

And there's the rub, you were not in the court room. Your analysis is based solely on one view that could easily have left out key evidence that the jury got to see. Maybe there was enough evidence to prove without a reasonable doubt that he did it. Just because they call it a documentary does not mean it is not slanted in its view or that it presents all of the available information. These women had an opinion and they made sure what they showed you supported their opinion. I really cannot fathom how people have bought into this. A show with a clear agenda shows you everything that supports that agenda but leaves out key information that completely invalidates their position. Sounds almost like politics... I did that too for a while, but finally caved in and watched it. Glad I did. No matter your POV on what happened, it makes for one hell of a story.

Ah, don't cha know that an Avery cannot get a fair trial in Manitowoc County.
I have seen many of the sites from the movie and have been in a few of the bars of Season 1. I always said there was something in the water in Manitowoc and this series more than proves that point.
