Default HOF announcement tonight

Who's getting in? Trammell, Morris, Miller, Parker, Murphy???

I'm thinking Morris and Trammell. Simmons deserves it but probably won't get in.

6:00 EST announcement

Marvin Miller - YES
Steve Garvey - YES
Tommy John - YES
Jack Morris - YES
Alan Trammell - YES

I am a stickler so a yes vote from me is a statement. As I have said before I go by old stats & not the new mumbojumbo. WAR is something countries fight not a baseball stat LOL

Sad No's on
Don Mattingly, , Dale Murphy, Dave Parker, Ted Simmons, Luis Tiant

Love all 5 but just misses for me

It'll be a crying shame if Trammell yet again doesn't get in.

Extremely happy to see Trammell get in. Morris? Not at all.

Might as well open up the flood gates and put in 4-6 HOFers each year. This makes next year a lock for Rivera, Edgar Martinez, Mike Mussina, and maybe Curt Schilling.

The problem is that they opened this kettle of fish years ago and it's just keeps getting worse and worse. I haven't counted, but I bet there are at least 75 guys that don't belong that are already in.

I understand he pitched some big games and racked up a lot of wins but Tommy John had more wins, a better ERA and was very good in the postseason. Dave Cone and Mickey Lolich also were big game pitchers who had more K's and better ERA's.

The Hall of Fame lost its dignity for me when they purged the old writers so they could leave it to young guys to vote in juicers like Bagwell and Ivan Rodriguez.

Everything the Hall does now is just an insult.

Trammell never even won a batting title or led the league in any offensive category. His only great year was in 87 when they juiced the ball.

There are so many better offensive players not in the Hall who should go in before him.

Lou Whitaker the sole member of this years voting committee LOL

How is Marvin Miller not in? That is a disgrace. If it is former players voting & didnt vote Marvin in they make me sick!

For me 1 of the big criterias is that when you were watching the player were you watching a Hall Of Famer?

Jack & Alan passed that test.

PS Garvey not in is an embarrassment in my eyes.

Trammell is in the same category when you look at all the numbers as Larkin and Jeter. Trammell was a plus at short and a plus offensive player. To say he's not a HOFer is the real insult.

The consideration of the titles finally put Morris over the top, especially getting 3 in a row with two different teams. He also threw a no-hitter which burnished the 250+ wins somewhat. Congrats to him, and Alan Trammell, waiting a long time for this. It's a great day for Tigers fans.

It is becoming the Hall of Very Good, not the Hall of Fame. The Hall should be for the elite. When there is this much debate over whether a guy has the credentials or not that should be a sign that he wasn't the elite of the elite. It is not a knock on the player at all, as all these players that are mentioned for consideration are very good to great, I just don't believe that some of the recent players getting in are of that elite level.

I just took at second look at some stats. If Alan is in Whitaker should have been in with him & maybe ahead of him.

I always thought of them as a pair & did think they were future HOF's when watching them.

I was a bit shocked that Lou's offensive numbers are better than Alan's ( Except career BA).

PS Garvey was robbed again.

Miller not going in while Budence the sleezebag used car salesman Selig is in makes the HOF a Joke!

The only reason Trammell and Jack Morris can live comfortable retirements is because of Marvin Miller, who should have been put in 15 years ago.

Trammell's numbers don't approach Jeter's.

I think he is more comparable to Larkin, who I think was overrated and who also never led the league in any offensive category. Larkin had one season in 96 that jumped off the page and was way better than his other years. Defensively I don't think either were great.

I think Tony Fernandez was as good as either of them at shortstop on both sides which is not to say that I think he is a Hall of Famer but that I wouldn't have been in such a rush to put in the other two who were popular players and this is mostly a popularity contest.

Take Bill Madlock for example - four batting titles - and he never got past the first ballot of the Hall because he was so unpopular with the writers. There is not a single player in history with four batting titles not in the Hall.

But we will keep electing juicer after juicer.
