Default Misc + 1 Box Museum Collection - Bad Start, Big Finish

I spent my monthly budget and got my shipment in on Thursday. I was pretty stoked to bust some wax.

I started with a 2012 Bowman Blaster and got nothing noteworthy.

Next was one jumbo pack of 2014 Bowman Draft. I got a base Austin DeCarr auto. Not the greatest, but its always nice to pull an auto out of a shot at a single pack.

Then I had the highlight of my monthly break, one box of 2015 Museum Collection.

First mini-box (sorry for the scan, only case I have that fits it is all scuffed up):

Junichi Tazawa triple relic auto. So we're off to a slow start, but I've been working on a trade with a member who loves (A) the Boston Red Sox; and (B) patch cards. And as I opened the pack my wife reminded me how much I typically enjoy a nice glass of scotch while opening packs. So now I've got a tasty beverage and some solid trade bait. And being the triple relic instead of the double was nice.

I make my wife chose which mini-box next and I pull this:

Starlin Castro Momentous Material. I don't really care much for these Momentous Material cards and not a player I care for. But it's the /35 instead of /50 and its a nice blue swatch and not a boring white. Nonetheless, half my box opened and not much yet...I'm getting nervous.

Next mini-box gives me this:

Starling Marte auto. Not a bad player, but not a card I would put in the PC and not too much trade value. Now we're 3/4 of the way to a very, very bad break and now I'm really nervous.

By now, the light is failing (a transformer blew behind our house so we had no power) and I'm starting to feel the scotch. I know I've got the quad relic left, and I really, really like what they did with those this year...probably my favorite part of a box of Museum.

I open the box and check the parallel card first. It's a Nolan Ryan copper...I tell my wife that a Nolan has to be a good omen for an amaysing finish. I get down to the last card and in the dim light, I can only tell that the quad is 4 plain looking swatches and my disappointment builds. I tilt the card to catch the light and figure out the player...and my jaw drops...

Thanks for looking, thanks for letting me share my excitement, and thanks for letting me tell a long-winded story.

Thank! Always nice to have a little community support after you run on at the mouth/keyboard a bit (as I tend to do).

Great hit on the Mays. He was my favorite growing up. Let me know if you decide to move it.
