Arrow Mets to Re-Sign Yoenis Cespedes For Three Years/$75M

Hashtag anticlimactic.

Ken Rosenthal ‏@Ken_Rosenthal
Source: #Mets closing in on Cespedes. Cespedes deal with #Mets expected three years in $70M range with one-year opt-out.

"Closing in"

Nothing official yet. And with the Mets, anything can happen.

Ken Rosenthal ‏@Ken_Rosenthal
The higher offers from Cespedes were from multiple clubs. He is getting the highest AAV for a position player this off-season - above $23M.

Cue the Mets fans saying how great he is now that's he's back in NY. Mets should not have been desperate to do this, Even more the opt out. If they don't have a replacement ready now, Will they in 1 year?

Not sure I like the opt out but I do like they didn't sign him to a long term back loaded contract. $25 million a year is a lot though.

Don't see why he would ever opt out of that deal unless he continues his ungodly tear from last year.

That's a lot for Yoenis if he isn't hitting 30+ HR's..

Because they were going to use that $25 mil elsewhere

Did I hear accurately on ESPN radio that Cespedes is a chain-smoker?! That's funny. He did have an awesome month but a terrible World Series and kinda bad defense to boot.

Because he's getting up there in age and will want to lock himself into a long term guaranteed contract.

There wasn't a free agent that made more sense for the White Sox right now, so of course they didn't go after him.

I hate Rick Hahn. What a disgrace.

He has to match his NY production to get anything close to 25M per on a long term deal though.

Glad the Mets are going for it again next year. The front office is spending some cash this off season.

Do you only troll the Mets or do you do this to other teams?

Cespedes / Conforto / Granderson. Best outfield the Mets have had in my lifetime.

That expensive bench spot doe. Did it with Cuddyer, did it with Chris Young (sort of)
