Nope. Last time I went to Texas I tried it. Tried Chicken Express too. Both were pretty lousy

I had Whataburger recently but just had a regular cheeseburger. It was ok nothing great. I guess the "special" burgers are the way to go if you want to really judge how good they are. I do remember Jack in the Box burger was pretty good when I tried it in San Diego a few years back though

Double cheeseburger with bacon, pickles, onion, jalapeños, and mustard is my ultimate cheat meal.

Had a double with cheese last night before going to the movies

Also they have good breakfast items. No all day menu though.

#2, mayo (or mustard if you like that sort of thing), double cheese, add bacon, add jalapenos, whatasized with onion rings and your drink

Spicy ketchup for the onion rings, and to dip the burger in if you like ketchup

I grew up in Texas/New Mexico, so on the occasions when the family ate out and fast food was on the menu, Whataburger was usually at the top of the list. I still love it.

I think fast food preferences are highly subjective. I finally ate an In N Out burger a few years ago for the first time and... it was a burger. A perfectly fine burger, but nothing special or memorable.

You were in Mississippi, so that may be part of the problem

I agree with this. I am a native New Mexican, and finally tried In N Out a couple years ago. It's good, but I wasn't amazed by it. I actually liked their shakes the most. I think I am still partial to Lotaburger.

Maybe amazed was too strong a word... but with the way some people talk about In N Out I had higher expectations.

I mainly get breakfast items from Whataburger like the Honey Butter Chicken Biscuit. If I actually get burgers, it's either the Patty Melt or the Sweet & Spicy Bacon Burger.

Yes!!!!
In 2014 I went down to Pensacola to work for a week. Where I was staying had a Whataburger right by it, I ate there every night. I was working overnight and it was one of the few places open when I would head into work.

I live in the DFW area of Texas and there is dang near a Whataburger on every corner. Its not as bad as Mcdonalds but dang sure not a must have either. I eat there probably once every two weeks and the only thing that brings me in is the spicy ketchup. That should tell you a lot about the burger if the only thing that brings me in the door is the ketchup.

Their breakfast selections are pretty diverse and delicious.
I like the biscuits and sausage gravy and breakfast on a bun.

Oh, come on... don't be a food snob...

In all seriousness, I think someone can be amazed by a fast food item in the same way they would be amazed by a similar item from a higher end establishment. You just have to be able to frame your expectations for each properly.

I don't hold a Big Mac to the same standard I would, say, a Red Robin burger or a burger from a nicer local restaurant.

First time I had a Steak N Shake Burger, I was pretty amazed. I loved it. But I was holding it up to other fast food/fast casual burgers.
