Exclamation BA's Organizational Top 10 Prospect Lists Thread

This thread will be used to post and comment on Baseball America's Top 10 lists for 2018.

The NL East lists kick off today, beginning with the Braves.

Notable omissions include Bryse Wilson, Touki Toussaint and Joey Wentz, among others. With such a stacked system it's not that surprising, though. They're almost certainly the #1 overall system right now.

Atlanta Braves Top 10 Prospects

1. RONALD ACUNA, OF
2. LUIZ GOHARA, LHP
3. MIKE SOROKA, RHP
4. KYLE WRIGHT, RHP
5. IAN ANDERSON, RHP
6. AUSTIN RILEY, 3B
7. KOLBY ALLARD, LHP
8. MAX FRIED, LHP
9. KEVIN MAITAN, SS
10. CRISTIAN PACHE, OF

interesting Maitan is at #9 considering the hype. Does this mean The Braves have 9 top 100 guys or maitan is no longer considered a top 100 player?

i get he wasnt very good last year but most sources i read usually play up the tools over production angle this early in the game for guys like him. Mondesi JR was a top 100 prospect for years and never really put up good numbers.

Biggest surprise would seem to be Austin Riley at #6. I would have had him a little lower (9-13 range) although he did have a nice second half.

Otherwise, list seems to reflect general consensus that Gohara seemed to have (justified) helium at the end of the year while Allard and Maitan lost a little shine. Overall, no real complaints. Pache could be a spot or two higher and Wilson could have cracked the Top 10 but hard to fault them given then system.

This team is definitely the best in the minor, wow! As for Riley, this is the second year he had a great second half and a slow start. If he put it together he is the clear 2nd best bat behind Acuna and still young for the level.

Crazy. Their #’s 6-10 guys could be #1 in 10 or so teams’ systems.

Kevin Maitan at NINE. Blows my mind how deep that system is.

Glad to see Gohara over Soroka and Allard. I watched Soroka and Allard twice each in person last year and just don't see the hype. I realize they put up numbers as teenagers in AA, but they just look like #5 starters to me. Not enough pure stuff. Gohara, on the other hand, wow. Just explosive stuff.

I'm not a Maitan fan but, really? Hit 240/290 with more Strikeouts than Games played. Sure hes "17" but those numbers suck

True, but its not like it was even Low A. Mayb 1/3 of the guys he faced will be in the Minors come July 2018? I was wrong on Tatis, so could very well be wrong again, I just think his a little more loved than he should be.

And for the White Sox List, I'm curious if they leave everyone on there, or if Moncada, Gio, Lopez all come off. I don't know the exact numbers, but honestly I hope they are all off the list. Lets go Hansen

They're off. All have graduated from prospect status. Click the link and read the qualifications.

I saw Maitan in Danville. He looked very out of shape, and his swings were pretty rough. Might end up being a learning experience. But it was bad weight. LH swing he was all on the front foot. RH swing looked clean. The talent was evident, though. Hopefully he can have a good ST and break camp with Rome.

Pache was incredibly impressive in person. Great routes in center, incredible speed and plays hard. If he can generate 15 HR power, he's a star. Too bad his autograph sucks.

Anderson was very impressive in person. Easy mechanics, great velo and off speed, room to add strength

You can plug in Wright or Wentz when Maitan becomes a free agent from all this tampering crap...
