The most influential individual behind the hobby. What he accomplished without access to modern technology is amazing.

Indeed. For anyone that doesn’t know who he is, I highly recommend reading up on him.

I have a Jefferson Burdick card in my collection:

Doesn't look like much, but I paid $50 for this T51 when ones in this condition normally go for $5 or less. It goes with my T51 Master Set (225 cards), uncut proof sheet, opened cigarette pack, Murad tin, and budding T6 collection.

Will try to send it in to PSA and have them put "Jefferson Burdick Collection" on the flip for provenance.

Default Burdick

No one in our card collecting hobby is more deserving of this award than Mr.Burdick. The article isn't quite correct but very close. I have studied him fairly extensively and have around 20 of his original, handwritten and typed letters posted on another chat board, which I won't link to out of respect for this one. His last volume of ACC was 1960. He started writing for publications in 1935, in Hobbies Magazine, and had 8 articles published over a 4 yr period, through 1938. The article said he stopped updating in 1951 but here are some letters from him in 1960 contradicting that date. Also, his 1939 edition of his catalog wasn't called the American Card Catalog (ACC) it was called US Trade Card Collectors Catalog Not a big deal and most of what was written is correct, I am sure.
