First Star Wars release that I did not pre-order in over 4 years. Will be very selective with Topps SW from this point on because of over saturation. Doing a couple of group breaks to try to pick up a card or 2. Good luck to those ripping!

This is what I am saying, I have bought 2+ cases of just about everything the past 5 years. People like you and me are mostly skipping this.
Orders have to be down, but I am sure Topps will make a little more than what was ordered and sell boxes on Topps.com.

Iím not so sure that this was lightly ordered. I personally know 2 (probably more) of the bigger on-line breaker companies that will each have Pallets of this. They only buy products like this and MW so when a traditional 24 pack/ 2 hits per box product has low pre-orders it is much more likely to have a lower print run. I think a lot of shops and on-line sellers likely stayed away from this one but the group break aspect will keep numbers high imo.

I guess this could be good or bad.
If production is low, the product will be loaded.
If production is high, boxes will be super cheap.

Didn't this get pushed back? The latest sell sheets being used on eBay pre-orders are saying "December 2017".

e.g. https://www.ebay.com/itm/2017-Topps-...YAAOSwc6paBxjZ

Topps Facebook just confirmed to me it's "about a month away", so 12/13 makes the most sense.

However, isn't TLJ S1 on 12/15?

The Last Jedi says 12/20

Of course I remember with Force Awakens, the movie, the product for FA and High Tek #1 all came out the same day.

I'm betting TLJ S1 will be the better break.

However, I wonder if they'll keep the trend of S1 being a smaller, more main cast signer list and then S2 having more scrub signers in it, or if they'll go full blown on both?

We already know Tek will be semi-bloated with 40 signers. This is a lot better than the 60+ with MW3 but it depends on who doesn't get included this time.

What do you think the odds are Carrie and Kenny get stickered in on this set for single autos or if Topps will keep using them only in a dual auto configuration?

I doubt Kenny & Carrie will have single autos in High Tek 3, but just based on a feeling.

Been running some rough projections, and since the sell sheet says there are 56 total inserts (4 insert sets), if each has a print run of 50 and if you got exactly 2 per case, then the production would be 16,800 boxes / 1,400 cases

With more inserts this year, and last year you averaged 1.25, I could see Topps upping this to 2 per case.

I wonder if Topps will also make more SP's this year than in the past, and also make them fall 1 per case. Not sure which way I would prefer.

I also think you will get 1 dual per case on average, but with several parallels and higher number on some, many won't be that desirable IMO.

With Series 1 having 18,349 boxes and Series 2 having 18,200 boxes, I feel that 16,800 is in the ballpark.

It should be much lower, but I just don't feel that Topps will drastically lower the production for this.

Depending on the checklist I may buy into a future break, but without knowing the signer list I'll just wait and get the few autos I want off eBay.

We already know this set will be rogue one heavy and the preview of Thrawn auto means rebels may have some signer carryover from MW3 as well.

Hayden and SMG would be two big names to include in this for sure.

Prices are dropping for a lot of R1 signers though since they've been in so many sets. I just got a Riz /50 auto from mw3 for $64 on eBay. Now to get a low cost Boyega haha.

Since Galactic Files 1 and until the middle of this year, I have pre-ordered at least a case of every Star Wars product. Middle of the year I cut down to 4 boxes of most products except Masterwork. Now High Tek 3 is the first product I committed to zero boxes of on pre order. 6-8 products a year is just too much and it isn't fun anymore. I might still eventually pick up some new products after prices drop but I can see myself only purchasing Masterwork from here on out if autos remain on-card and Topps insists on cranking it out every year.

They have released High Tek and Series 1 of the current movie release in the same week or even on the same day for the past 2 years. Why is anyone surprised?

I agree that it's too much, but it wasn't unexpected.

Yeah it is probably for the best, I wasn't even ready for it, neither is the market!

That checklist looks pretty weak. The duel autos are boring as all hell.
If you ever wanted every rebel auto from Rogue One, now is your chance.

This adds a huge premium to the Mark Hamill Stellar redemption as well IMO. No Mendelsohn in this release meaning his Stellar will be his only on card autograph until (presumably) next years Masterwork.

We're so jaded. When we didn't know if Stellar would contain Ford it was going to be a bust. Now this set has Ford and is considered weak.

This auto list is every bit as good as Stellar. And they FINALLY got Cathy Munroe (Zuckuss)!
