Default Is Justin Verlander a hall of famer?

With the way he has been pitching for the Astros, it got me thinking. Is he a for sure hall of famer ?

Anyone voting no chance or no brainer is nuts

Edit- My reasoning is that if he retires today I don’t think he has the counting stats to be a no brainer

Don't really know how you could argue he's anything less than a lock

I think that prior to his trade to Houston he was very close maybe a sure thing. Now with his renewed dominance if he finishes his career with more wins, Ks and leaves the game in his terms Iíd say heís a def HOF. I could see why he wouldnít be a 1st ballot for some but for sure. My God if Bert Blyleven is there Verlander has to be.

192-114 with a 3.43 era. That’s my argument. Nowhere near a lock right now

Schilling isn’t in....verlander isnt in

pitching in this era of steroids and juiced baseballs, 200 wins is about as good as anyone will do. Add that to his AL MVP and dominating the playoffs last year and he's a lock (maybe not first ballot)

People have Kershaw in if he died tomorrow and he has 145 wins.

Schilling should be in, but he rubs people the wrong way b/c of his politics and big mouth (which is #@#@#@#@#@#@#@#@).

I think he still needs a few more solid years to be a solid lock. Good chance now, but I dont think its first round for him.

2 no hitters, ALCS MVP as well. 522 K's from 3000 he should get there easily. Schilling, Clemens only two with 3k not in. Looking at the hall of fame statistic categories on baseball reference, he would look to be a lock. If Black Ink is that important, he ranks 22nd all time there already. That's not a lock though right.

Blyleven has the counting stats and the advanced stats to be in. He is far from egregious; in fact, his induction was long overdue. His lack of all-star appearances - a very subjective and poor way of judging worthiness - led many voters to be biased.

As for Verlander, he is ALMOST there. He has been amazing with Houston, and if he keeps it up for another couple of seasons, then I would say that he's a lock. As of now, he is almost there, but not quite a lock.

Which HOF? Baseball or Marrying Models?

Hes currently at 59.2 bWAR, about same as Brett Saberhahen. if he could get that to 70, hes certainly in. But that prolly means another five years pitching. So...., 65 bWAR might be more likely. Which is about as mich as Roy Halladay, Luis Tiant, but also David Cone. But Verlander has the MVP, Cy, and at least one ring on his resume. Id be he makes it.

I think the era of focusing on counting stats for pitchers is over. Nobody serious cares about wins any more. Seems like 10 year peak is what voters are homing in on.

kershaw has all time great era and whip seasons... not to mention 3 cy awards and the same mvp that verlander has... kershaw is so far and above verlander to mention them together is laughable

Verlander has sure found that fountain of youth in Houston...but I'm wondering if it's really just a change of scenery and a boost in motivation or something else (like performance enhancers)
