Default Donaldson called Beane "Billy Boy" repeatedly during altercation, lmao (SF Chronicle)

Cheers for Josh. My new nickname for our resident mad scientist Beane.

Donaldson taking shots at A's while with Jays now sounds like a bitter Ex.

Josh Reddick should've busted out the WWE wrestling belt and they should have had a super slam right then and there

He was targeting only Beane, and this was way before the trade.

If that tag team had made trade-your-mom, never-seen-the-WS Billy Boy run out of the stadium, never to return, I'd be happy.

Smart, trade an MVP candidate that asks for a couple of days off to heal for a guy that manages to only be able to play in about half of his team's game every year. Good move Billy Ego.

It is a good trade. Lawrie will be every bit as good as Donaldson is.

As a fan of Lawrie I hope you're right. I want to see him succeed. With that said i wouldn't get your hopes up. He plays hard/aggressive and it's fun to watch. But it also leads to bone headed mistakes, poor at bats and unnecessary injuries. He's one of those really frustrating players to watch. One minute he looks like he could be a league MVP and the next you wonder why he was every so highly regarded at all.

Meh....probably not....but the difference isn't that huge when you consider that the As will have Lawrie on a cost controlled basis for several years and Donaldson is about to get very rich. It makes sense for that reason....all the Billy Boy vs Josh stuff is just noise....this was pure Oakland As roster strategy.

You are missing something...."as long as Lawrie stays healthy".

But really, Lawrie WILL NEVER hit more HR's and drive in more runs than Donaldson in a single season.

Even though I miss Lawrie's energy and defense, his lack of playing time due to injuries, lack of patience at the plate won't be missed at all...

Starring Brad Pitt. They will hire another fat slob to play Donaldson.

Hope it works out for both teams.

I am more intrigued at the prospects the Athletics received.

Posted in Redraft: How much must a player disdain his GM to call him Billy Boy, haha... there are days I still view Beane as a failed prospect, which is what he was. Must annoy actual star players to be told how to behave by a failure.

How many GMs were star players? Most of them never played past High School. I'm not sure why you would single out Billy for his playing ability as he is probably better than all but 4 or 5 GMs currently.

Was walking in Donaldson's shoes, as Billy Boy went beyond his job descrip if you read the article.

I did read the article. How is a GM being involved in gameday roster decisions "going beyond his job description", exactly?

Donaldson wasn't injured...he was "tired". And while I'm all for a player deciding he needed a rest, I won't exactly kill a GM or Manager for suggesting that this particular game isn't the best time.
