Getting back into the hobby - St. Louis Edition

Hello everyone!

Like a lot of people it seems I'm just getting back into the hobby.

I first got into cards when I was around 6-7 and my dad thought I was mature enough to get free access to all his old cards. I was very excited about it for several years but it was the 90's and early '00 and cards were changing a lot and getting a lot more expensive. I just gradually lost interest. My dad was of course really old school and even I wasn't really hip to the idea of paying more than a dollar pack. I became more interested in Magic the Gathering cards. They were collectible too and you could play the game, which I think is a lot of fun. Baseball cards became less important as a source of information as well, with the internet coming out. It was just more bang for my buck. It was 8.99 for 60 magic cards.

I think what started drawing me back into cards is Fifa 17. There's a mode on there where you collect players in packs and also buy and sell them. Then I got into some Topps Apps, but they are filled with bugs and adding diamonds made it intolerable.

I quit that months back then a little while ago I was doing some tidying up and had an old plastic storage thing with a bunch of lose cards (early 90's baseball).

Went up to the LCS and got a couple 800ct boxes. Looked around, asked some questions. Bought a pack of Artifacts.

Next thing I know I'm looking up about the card i got (pavel zacha year one rookie sweater) and then the rest of the set. I really like the way they look. Then I watched some breaks.

Went back and bought a box. It has snowballed from there.

Suffice to say I'm going to prepare a long post on how I did on boxes/breaks vs an inner case.

Definitely taking a little hiatus from buying so I'm glad I can chat about cards with you all on here. I'll be posting my artifacts stuff in the breaks boards and probably some of my old collection from my dad when I get that out. Hopefully some of you all have some cool display ideas I can DIY, making that stuff is fun.

Hi ya'll thanks for the replies. Yes! Another collector from St. Louis.

Forgot to mention i'm into hockey mostly right now but I like ALL THE SPORTS and magic and the card sets for stuff like Star Wars and GOT seems pretty cool too.
