It's just another variation on retail - similar to the retail stuff out several years ago in fact.

No interest.

Would be more interested in premium pack with one or two hits and part of the base.

I wouldn't even if it was $1 a pack. Kids might. You can still buy a mini master cheaper from regular hobby case breakers. Most sales would be driven by the fact that it will still have exclusive content, like some retail. If they want to do it, great, just leave out the exclusive content so the master/parallel set collectors don't get screwed.

With all the different options this product will not run out until I am 100 years old!

Interesting that this set comes with its own variation cards numbered to 110. That should help with sales. I think the price point should come down a bit though. $48 seems a bit high for what you get (with no chance for a big hit).

I'd be willing to split the cost of a box of cards with someone, I pay $45 and get the hits, they pay $45 and get the rest.

That kind of illustrates how goofy the pricing is for the hitless boxes. I would think the pricing split would be 1/3 for hitless to 2/3 for hits with the 2/3 side getting a chance at a really big hit, whereas the other side has basically no upside beyond getting base and parallels.

As an example from the JTFA product, even though I got 2 huge hits from a few loose packs, my actual case was terrible, yet I still broke even on it because of the parallels, inserts and sets I sold.

I was able to get about $600 from the sets, parallels and inserts I sold.

From 1 individual box there may not be a whole lot of value, but if you busted several of these hitless boxes and had say 1/3 of the parallel set #'ed out of /110, I bet you would get about $150 just from those alone.

You would have 1/4 of your money back already. Now for this version of the product I wouldn't dare try to flip it for a profit. I would just do it to make a master set and maybe sell the #'ed parallels and extras to get some of your money back.

This isn't even just hitless...

It has 24 fewer inserts (1 per pack instead of 2) and 24 fewer base cards (6 cards per pack instead of 8). So it's not ideal for set builders either.

This is just an excuse to let the presses run awhile longer even though they have made enough for all the hits they have.

This also means that inserts that are in both the hobby and hobby lite boxes will sell for nothing since so many will be hitting the market. This will hurt sales of those who do break hobby as complete insert sets will be readily available with the addition of the lite boxes.

Ed and Bill both just nailed it perfectly in the last two posts.

It seems like an attempt to throw a bone to hobby stores who might have been upset by the strong retail push Topps made with the Journey to Force Awakens set. The pricing seems to be a misfire though.

I wonder if the numbered foil cards exclusive to the light boxes will be their own separate subset, or another added parallel to the base? My guess is its own subset.

I think they are just an added parallel

If so, at 3 per light box, that would mean 3,666 of these boxes produced (100 card base X 110 divided by 3 per box).

Yeah I can see that this portion of the production run being pretty small.
But then you add that to like 20,000 boxes of regular hobby and who knows how much retail, there will be a lot overall.

They don't have enough Star Wars sets now they double up and overproduce the base cards? Although the Star Wars hits are muppets and characters with zero lines about 75% of the time
