Yeah blue waves being packed out is a huge plus. I don't even see it as a plus for breakers, other than there won't be a rush to get the product ripped ASAP. Breakers made good money off of the wrappers so I think it's a net loss for them.

It's good in the sense that people that are not be ripping right on release to still have a shot at the blue waves. Perhaps this helps raise the value of them overall as well, since the autos #/50 aren't selling great at the moment.

Forgive me for having my head in the sand, but what are they doing differently with blue waves this time?

They're no longer doing wrapper programs to acquire blue waves; they're inserted in packs this time.

Thanks. and THANK GOD...the wrapper deal is a disaster. 2 releases in a row sent wrappers the day of the release and never got blue waves

I wonder how many blue wave packs would be in a sealed case ,and if they are taking place of a regular pack or will be an extra pack.

I think production is usually around 6,000-7,000 hobby cases (equivalent if you convert jumbo into hobby), if there are 10,000 packs you'll see 1-2 packs per case. Definitely a kick to the nuts for the speed breakers - it was typical to end up with $200 value in redeemed blue wave packs, but a good value add for those who break down the road...

I could be wrong, but I thought they were being packed 'loose' in 5 card increments - no wrapper, just mixed amongst the cards...

I prefer Dancing Queen.

Have to say I'm a touch nervous that guys like Stewart / Gray / Dozier / Moran and even Ball may be missing when this is all said and done. I suspect the majority of them to be announced very soon but it's odd for Topps to release the junko names so early. Normally, they light it up with the big boys and dump the junk at the end.

TWT.

Few things production last year was not even close to that high, also last year bdpp did not have a wrapper redemption they had the horribly done prospect challenge codes

I must have missed this...Is there a wrapper redemption? Or blue wave packs are inside boxes?

2012 BDPP had 4,500 hobby cases and 750 jumbo cases produced. Autos were as follows: 40 prospects / 2 RC's / 25 Bowman Black / 10 Dual Insert.

Simple and easy. Print run per prospect auto was under 1,000 base and 450 refractor. I don't expect such a run this year but we'll have to wait and see to find out.

Good call on the wrapper redemption...I get my Bowman's/Chrome's/Drafts messed up at times...I'm now recalling those stupid codes

As for production, anywhere between 5-7K hobby cases has been in my head since 2010. I checked, according to wrapper odds a super auto fell ~every 43,000 packs, with 40 autos that would make almost exactly 6,000 cases. I've never fully believed that wrapper odds are 100% accurate, but I also don't think 2012 was as low on production as some people think. 6,000 seems about right...

Are you 100% sure on those numbers? I opened/saw enough open to say that color fell about as often as one would expect to validate the wrapper odds...

I am 100% positive that was the case run. A touch under 1,000 base autos per player and a touch under 500 refractor autos per player would allow for this to be dead on / balls accurate.

Balls accurate is the good stuff.

I guess in terms of total cards (3,072 in jumbo case vs. 2,016 in hobby), this is the equivalent of 5,642 hobby cases...which is almost identical to 2011. 2011, no jumbos, super prospect odds were 1:47,000ish packs (34 autos) - total of 5,572 cases. I guess my 6-7K estimate was a little high, but after two years of data maybe we can expect 5,500ish this year?

You're cute.

I honestly expect 7,500 total cases of Draft this year, if not more. Such a success in 2012; I think a lot of pre-ordering was done and Topps is cranking the presses.

1,100 Jumbo / 6,600 hobby is my guess.,

Yawn.

Looks like Topps is already focusing on 2014 Bowman and trusting that the Draft name will carry this product.

Just sold my preordered cases back to the dealer.

So do you think this means more autograph subjects, or higher print run on base autos?

Just curious, since they didn't number refractor autos last year, and carry that through to this year, they could potentially up the print run on those as well to fill out the extra 2000ish cases.
