Default Question about avenging sm capt marvel

I know wayyy late to game getting this book. Is there any room for increase for 9.8 copy at around 650 area. Really want her first appearance and rather buy a graded copy. I don’t want make a fortune, just hoping it’ll least hold value.

This a decent investment or fools gold.

I wouldn't touch it at that price. It might go up to $1k by the time the movie hits. But it will take a big dive after that. Deadpool dropped by $200 6 months after the first movie and I think he has a bigger buying audience and a true first appearance.
Carol Danvers has 3 key books which dilutes the market; Captain Marvel Vol. 18 #18, Ms. Marvel Vol. 1 #1 and Avenging Spider-Man #9.

Personally I'd buy a Ms. Marvel Vol. 1 #1 before dumping that kind of money into Avenging Spider-Man #9.

Ms Marvel #1 is a Bronze Age book with an established value and I think there's still room for a lot of fluctuation as Comix Guy stated in the AS #9

Granted, if you find an AS #9 for a few bucks in a back issue bin, buy that sucker, graded it and sell it.

agree, but nowhere near 1k. Ms marvel never done chit, not an appealing character, very minimal following, and only the hype will drive these books.

Maybe buy mightiest captain marvel and some of the newer rare variants to flip, but thats all.

I dont think the outlook is all that great--maybe brie larson has the impact of wonder woman? Nope, my two cents

Are you guys selling Captain Marvel keys now, or waiting until next spring?

Has this book turned into a long-term hold due to cm presumably playing a central role in the next phase of the MCU?

Default 2013 Fleer Retro Marvel #6 and Avenging Spider-Man #9

Recently noticed a smaller and more affordable version of the Avenging Spider-Man #9 cover in the form of a trading card. The 2013 Fleer Retro Marvel #6 has a base card with the same image from Avenging Spider-Man #9 and there's also an autographed version by artist Terry Dodson.

I playfully rationalized that if the comic book is graded that it becomes a large version of a trading card so that's why I bought it
But the trading card was much more affordable at a buck or two and the auto can go anywhere between $5-$15 and fits nicely on a desk

(btw, the Captain Marvel image in the background is by Joe Jusko from his Marvel Masterpieces book by IDW)

I consider Ms Marvel #1 Volume as her true first appearance and not Avenging #9. But the hype on that book is just sick right now.

Ms. Marvel 1 is Carol Danvers first appearance ... as Ms. Marvel.

Avenging SM 9 is Carol Danvers first appearance as ... Captain Marvel.

Title of upcoming movie is ... Captain Marvel.

It's not difficult to understand why Avenging has become a huge key book. If you don't think she is and will become a bigger Marvel player, you've already missed out.

Both books have merit. The modern book obviously has the numbers and is readily available in high grade. It's been a solid hold since release so there are plenty of 9.8 ready copies that haven't been slabbed yet.

History tells us that print numbers and availability do not prevent value on these modern keys from rising. If you're a fan, you probably want both. In the long run, the old book will probably appreciate more but that's really just a guess on my part.

I dont have either but I hope the movie does well and the character continues to thrive. She is great for the sustainability of comics in the modern sociopolitical climate.

So have we all forgotten that all books go down after movie hype?
