It's a no-brainer -- Kelse all the way.

By the way, looks like Utley signing with Dodgers - 2 years for $2M. Not bad for Dodgers and good for him to be playing at home.

At least I think he was rooting for the Eagles, though not really sure how much of a Philly guy he is.

Bumping to keep fresh.

Grabbed my tickets for 2008 Celebration game in August.

Guessing ST will be a little more crowded this year with a better vibe.

Had to bump up from the 5th page.

Not digging Hererra new hair-do. Hopes he puts focus on his game.

Williams HR denting cars - nice!

Will the Phils sign Arrietta - I doubt it.

I hope they don’t sign Arrieta. Phil’s are still 2-3 away from really competing. This full year offense should add 5-10 more wins than last year, even with the bad pitching. I’m heading to spring training in a few weeks. Can’t wait to see young guys.

Team not looking incredibly strong right now, but it's only 2 spring training games in, 1 that counts. Cozens is unofficially 0-4 with 4 Ks, so he has that going for him, which is nice.

Headed off to a weekend of Phillies games, today against vs. the Orioles, tomorrow v. the Yankees. Look for me on TV.

I'll be the guy in the Phillies jersey.

Alfaro with a grand slam. Jake Thompson with an interesting 3 K inning. Adam Morgan pitching.

Bumping up again

Hope Phils use their leverage IF the decide to sign a free agent pitcher. Buy low boys, buy low.

Spring Training countdown at less than 3 weeks!

Moniak can hit against someone.

Went to the game today in Tampa. Brought our B and C team. The only guy who played is the guy who has no position, Tommy Joseph.

I love Dylan Cozens, but I've watched him with my own eyes in about 5-6 games this spring, and I've lost a lot of faith. That being said, I am praying at the altar of Scott Kingery, who does impress. FWIW, Hoskins, Odubel, Franco, Santana, and JP Crawford are also not tearing the cover off the ball.

Not too many prospects are getting a look on the big spring training stage right now; the guys that are getting ABs after the big guys leave are essentially organizational fodder. Pitching looks interesting though. A lot of young relievers -- Yacksel Rios, Seranthony Dominguez, Jose Taveras -- getting some innings in. K-rod looks bad, not hitting more than 89 on the gun today. Lively pitched well for 3+ innings today, got dinged in the 4th.

A lot more spring training to go.

If they can get to .500 this year that would be a great accomplishment.

So not worried about ST results.

Just stick with the youth program.

Can't wait to get down there in a couple weeks.

Arrieta to the Phillies. 3yr-75 million. Interesting move. He may have just made the team a wild card contender!

Don't like it.

If this was a team that was an "Arrieta" away from a potential title run I'd be at the front of the excitement line. But this team is not there, and now we've invested $75 million in a 32 year-old pitcher who has seen his WHIP and ERA increase in each of the last 3 seasons?

I hope he pitches his ass off so we can unload him in July if this team is 20 games out.

Someone please tell me how wrong I am, because I do want to be optimistic about this.

Don't love it for a pitcher on the decline.

First year and second may be ok but fear year 3 will be a train wreck.

3 year for $60M would have been better.

Hope there is no player option involved.

By the time they're an Arrieta away in your estimation his contract will then be up. In the meantime they can try to sneak into the playoffs as opposed to having almost no shot.

From the Phillies’ perspective, 3 year for $55M would be even better ...

love the signing. the pitching staff is really bad. it's Nola, who's really a top #2 type......and that's it

this allows lively to be a #5 and wave bye bye to garbage like Nick Pivetta

also, their payroll was $55million let's stop with the "omg 25 million for 3 years" it literally has zero impact on any future moves

Agree here - this wasn't a terrible move for the Phils. They get a decent SP who may be on the decline but have no long term commitment. The contract calls for 30M this year, 25M next year and 20M the year after that. He also has an opt out clause after year 2 and I think there are 2 mutual option years for 20M each for years 4 and 5. With the Phils payroll this will not hurt them at all and give a good veteran SP to help mentor the young guys.

Watched the Phils and Braves tonight in chilly Orlando. Watched the Phils do nothing for 6 innings and then the back up 1st baseman crush a homer to dead center. Crawford is faaaaast. Go Phils!

Mitch Walding is actually a third baseman, who came on with significant power at the 2nd half of the minor season last year. If he continues, we may have a nice trading chip (assuming that JCP moves to 3rd when Machado takes over SS).

Tough break for TJ but knew it was coming.

Will be interesting if anyone takes a shot on him.

So, Eickhoff is out for 6-8 weeks.

Jake A., Nola, Vince (until he gets hurt), Pivetta and... Eshelman/Lively/Eflin?

You'd think at least one guy would step up.
