Well that was disappointing. Wasted $3.99 on Xfinity On Demand. Was impressed at all. - not creepy enough - not enough gore - villian/evil had a week role - 0 scare factor I'm a 41 year old veteran that's covered in ink and worked in the prison system. I need something I've never seen before lol |

I kinda liked the premise, and parts of it, but I feel like halfway through it just started going all over the place. Not terrible, but definitely not the best.

Yups exactly. From a certain point, it becomes a wait and see if anything new or interesting happens and it really doesn't.

Some great movies mentioned in this thread. Here are two that I really like that I don't believe have been mentioned.
Dead Birds (2004) - IMDb Night of the Demons (1988) - IMDb

I don't know what genre Red State is considered .... but the people portrayed in that movie scare me more than any ghost/paranormal/serial killer movies.

Very true. People scare me more than the unstoppable serial murderers and ghosts. You should try watching "The Sacrament". It's very much on the same scale as "Red State".

Recently, I enjoyed Late Phases (blind vet vs. werewolf). Not a major studio release, but I thought the acting by the main character was very good, and the wolf scenes were cool.

Just got out of Sinister 2.....just okay....I'd go see a third one, as they've left it open for that to happen. I feel as if the movie is more for kids just getting into horror films since it deals with the boogeyman. Had maybe 1 or 2 parts where I jumped. Shannyn Sossamon was in it, so that's always nice.
Fortunately, we have two more horror movies coming out in September with Eli Roth's movie and M Night Shamamaamamalon's movie as well. Both look like they could be pretty good. |

Not sure if it was mentioned but VHS was good. The 2nd one was ok but the 1st one is worth the watch.
Its kinda a found footage type but a bunch of short videos within one major movie.

The cult compound clip "Safe Haven" from V/H/S II is easily the best scene in the entire series and a must watch for any horror fan.

the first two are a good time, but for the love of God, skip the 3rd one -- V/H/S Viral. ruined the series for me.

Already watched Wyrmwood and I enjoyed it and just got done watching the Final Hours and it was pretty good as well. I wouldn't consider it a horror movie though. I just watched Seeking a Friend for the End of the World and it was much like that but more rated R.

"Honeymoon" was a very good movie. Movie built such a tense atmosphere and the acting was terrific.

Just got out of The Visit. You'll figure out the "twist" in the first half hour. The movie was very slow as they try to delay you figuring out what the twist is, but it's very evident with all the subtle happenings in the movie.
I will say this, once you realize the twist and how stupid it truly is, the movie is absolutely hilarious! I really think M Night knows his movies are bad because he purposefully makes them that way as an on going F You to his fans for turning on him after he came out with some pretty stellar movies. If you're wanting a good laugh, check it out, but don't expect to be scared and be prepared to be bored in parts of it. |
