Texans81's comic book giveaway #2 and #3 - New Year's "resolution" edition

so the first thread was fun and someone will be getting a freebie from that one but I think this one could be really cool.

here's what we're gonna do:

make a "new year's resolution" that consists of a list of 5 comics you want to add to your collection this year. not just any 5 though, these should be tough to get highlight of your collection type stuff. like if someone comes to you on 1/1/2015 and says "hey what were the top books you added to your collection this year?" it should be the stuff on this list. On the same token though, the list should consist of items you think you could realistically get. Don't put anything insane that's little more than a pipe dream

after you've made your list, bookmark this thread. throughout the course of the next year if you manage to score one of the items on your list, come back here and edit your list to include a pic of your new acquisition!

make your list as specific as possible. if you want to get a slabbed book, what grade? what page quality? blue label or yellow? if yellow, signed by who? If raw, what condition are you looking for? lets have some fun with this

so now for the giveaway part. giveaway #2 will be another random.org of all of the people who participate and make a list. giveaway #3 will not be done until around this time next year and will be something a little higher end. to be eligible for that part of the giveaway, you must successfully complete atleast 60% of your list (3 of the 5 items for those of you who are a little less math inclined).

And just to make this a little more fun, I'll throw in an extra bonus. Giveaway #2 will be somewhere in the price range of $15-$25 and giveaway #3 lets say in the $75-$100 range. I will let the winner choose what series they'd like a book from. So you could say "I want a Fantastic Four book" or "I want a Superman's pal Jimmy Olsen book" or whatever and I'll find something in that range from the title you select.

I look forward to seeing everyone's lists! I'll come back in and add mine a little later.

You did say realistic right? Some of these picks are probably not realistic, but more power to those that can.

For instance the price of a Action Comics #1 even in horrible condition is at least probably about $80,000.

My list is the following (in no particular order):

1) Amazing Fantasy #15 (2.5 - 3.5)
2) Hulk #1 (3.0 - 4.5)
3) Daredevil #1 (4.5 - 6.5)



4) Strange Tales #110 (4.5 - 7.0)
5) Tales of Suspense #35 (4.0 - 7.0)

I'm not really big on collecting like I've said before. I barely have over a short box of titles I actually keep, but I keep track of how much I paid for them knowing I will sell them when I can. I am sure there are a few losers in there like Dancer, Snapshot, etc. I usually only hold titles from one comic con to the next before replacing everything, so it took me a while to think of five.

1. Mind MGMT #1 variant NM or better - My favorite series. This is the only issue I'm missing except for #13 sketch.
2. X-Men #130 NM+ - I have been looking for about 6 months for a raw copy to get graded.
3. The Walking Dead #48 CGC 9.8 - This issue was probably the craziest one I have ever read across all titles.
4. Y The Last Man #1 CGC 9.6 or better - First series I ever completed.

5. The Walking Dead #1 WW Philly variant CGC SS 9.8 - First big comic con. First SS. I would like to rebuy it, but not more than like $60.

5. Thief of Thieves #1 NM+ - I owned it this year, but I flipped it pretty quickly for more money and to upgrade #2-4 since I had later printings. It would probably make more sense to just get it graded because prices will be about the same.

Nice list by everyone. Can I suggest that everyone updates by editing their own post and inserting images of their new books? This will be easier to document as time goes on.

Outside of natbornkiller (which I predict is out of the contest by his lofty aspirations LOL), the toughest is Cisco69. We are looking at more than 20k for the 5 he listed.

I split my goal into 2: the tougher ones and the easier one.

Tougher goals
Avengers #1 (3.0-5.0)
B&B #28 (3.0-5.0)

Easier goals
Silver Surfer #1 (in 8.0 and above)
Marvel Spotlight #5 (in 8.0 and above)
