Default Gallo hits 3rd hr... Now what?

Gallo has been playing everyday. Today, he has 2 walks and a homer. His OPS in the mlb is over .900. When does Beltre come back and what happens to Gallo? I know it hasnt been pretty at times, but they still have to play him full time right?

its really is a tough call...you could move Gallo to 1st and keep Fielder at DH, but where does Moreland go?

or you could move him to OF, but Deshields is fine where he is and Hamilton will be back. So that leaves one spot left and you still have Choo. Choo really shouldn't be in the outfield, but you cant DH him with Moreland or Fielder taking a spot....

He just might have to split time with someone when Hamilton comes back...

Jon Daniels on Texas Rangers promotion of Joey Gallo: ‘This will help his development’ | | Dallas Morning News

Per Jon Daniels as he was being called up:

Quote:
The plan is for Gallo to be activated on Tuesday and play regularly while Beltre recovers. Daniels also clearly said he expects this will be a short-term call-up, regardless of how Gallo performs.

“I hope we’re in that spot, that team is playing well and Joey puts us in position to have to make that call,” Daniels said of the possibility of Gallo pushing to remain on the roster long-term. “We expect Joey to go back down and we’ve told Joey that as well.”
I don't see them having changed that stance based upon his performance. I love Gallo, but some more time in AA/AAA wouldn't hurt. With Fielder and Beltre on the team I don't see any room, and if they wanted to put more focus on transitioning him to another position it probably shouldn't be done in Arlington.

I think the Rangers try to move Choo. Makes the most sense.

I've heard that as well...I was so against his signing..prob would have to pay a huge chunk of that contract for someone to take him

Some walks and high average too so far. I figured he would stay up longer since Hamilton is out but who knows.

I think if they move home it would be for nothing g or take on a lot of the contract and get a middle prospect. If a contending team has an OF go down Choo could be their answer. Don't forget Blanks is in the mix and doing well too. Another question is what do you do with Smolinski. Does he have any options left?

Although Blanks has had his moments this year, he and Smolinski are career spares...I'm not too worried about them...

Would you rather have a hot Blanks or a slumping Hamilton? You have to play who is hot and Blanks has been a good platoon piece. Hamilton is way past his prime and you can't bank on him. Gallo goes in a bad slump as a rookie he might not come out of it for a while. You need Blanks. Smolinski I have not seen a lot of value in.

... and the best part for Rangers fans is that Mazara and Williams are coming too. Rangers are stacked in position players.

Oh idk I think most would take the hot player over the slumping

But most managers would take the vet Hamilton over blanks....

And of course the Rangers need him..they gotta have some platoon players to give others rest...

We may need him, but he is still a career spare...

Why stop at 5. This kid can hit homers in bunches. And i mean roof toppers. He crushes the ball. If he can develop and make consistent contact, he can be a MONSTER.
