Restraining Order placed on Ultimate, Signature Stars, UD Baseball!
Anyone else heard anything about this. My wholesaler( a very large company) told me they were not aloud to sell any of the latest UD baseball products anymore until this lawsuit is settled. Enjoy all these Griffey and Jeter on card autos because you may not see that in the near future? I personally think they should put a restraining order on TOPPS STERLING!! What a joke! Topps previewed a Case and pulled a Richard Nixon cut and my hardworking customers pull Dan Quisenberry and James Ives???who???? cut sigs that look like Tri-Star Signa Cut cards.

In all honesty, I think a "Cease and Desist" should be issued to upper deck.
They continually do dishonest and criminal activity that is killing this hobby. They care for no one but themselves, and it's clearly evident. I think the authorities should step in and not let them carry on in business because they aren't going to stop cheating people. |

As far as I know there is no official cease and desist order, MLB simply requested wholesalers to stop. Nothing legally binding.

I find it hard believe someone would knock Ultimate Collection, it has brought several high end baseball buyers back in to my store this week. They have ALL left happy! That's what counts. |

Maybe if UD had cared about their customers (high-end or otherwise) when they actually had the license, they wouldn't be in this situation. One semi-decent product doesn't make up for years of incompetence.

Doesn't matter if they break the law, and Upper Deck is seemingly looking for ways to break it.

That's too bad you can't get the ultimate, great product. On card autos, all HOF or quality players, most patch cards are amazing to unreal, not many redemptions. Makes sportkings look like a joke.

To quote your qualities you listed above: - "on-card autos"...SK has 100% on-card autos. - "all HOF or quality players"...Those are the only types of sports figures SK includes. The best of the best. - "most patch cards are amazing to unreal"...I haven't seen them all, but SK does a great job in this category WITHOUT violating any contracts, licenses or laws. - "not many redemptions"...SK has ZERO redemptions for cards that should have made it into the product. Upper deck has not and will not compete with SK in this regard. Talk about a joke! Do you have any more uninformed comments you'd like to make? |

Why wouldn't EVERYONE question the authenticity of game-worn memorabilia from upper deck when they have zero integrity as a company? They cheat other companies and the MLB. Why wouldn't they cheat customers? After all, the customer is the least likely to cause you any problems. |

I don't even like Upper Deck, but Ultimate is a nice product. Why should I think that Sportkings is any better or has more integrity or authentic products??? because mwheeler says so??? who are you? your ears ring everytime sportkings get mentioned like you get a dime everytime you post in a thread from them or something.

Why would anyone choose a company that has a proven track record of criminal and horribly unethical actions over a company that has done nothing of the sort? The very, very few times SK has placed memorabilia pieces on cards that were not worn by the player on the card, they clearly stated so on the card. They have never hid anything from their customers to my knowledge. * Don't ever do something because I say so. Do it because you feel it's what's right. Do it because common sense tells you you should. * A Lennox Lewis card has a piece of a corner man's jacket that was worn during a Lewis fight and was clearly noted on the back. There is another similar example with a John Wooden card. |

I think UD is trying to put themselves out of business. If you're not authorized to use team logos, that means you can't use them. If a company can't understand common sense, then they have no right to continue doing business.

I agree, but they're still in business because their customers are apparently lacking common sense. I honestly don't understand why people keep buying their newer products knowing they are a bunch of cheats.

People still wear socks with sandals...people will still buy Upper Deck. Not everyone is attune to the day-to-day happenings behind the scenes and those people are naive enough to keep forking over their dough.
When I saw the first couple of breaks for Ultimate, I literally had to drop my head and shake it. Upper Deck clearly knew that they were in the wrong, yet defiantly sent out the product - which they've had printed and packaged since last year. But, the defense of "it's a product produced in and for 2009" doesn't work because the release date was well into the first month of 2010. It defies logic with how incredibly bone-headed that move was. Why they couldn't bump the release date back to the last week of 2009 to alleviate the legal issue is beyond me. Morons, imo.

Every card company makes something worth while. While I agree that UD isn't the best, they do make stuff here and there that is quite nice, same with Topps and Donruss and the list goes on and on. Why single any one of them out. Collect what appeals to you and leave the rest alone. I think it is rediculous to just flat out claim that a company makes absolutely nothing worth while. Just check the boards, theres always someone raving about a new product and low and behold that product is quite often an UD product.

It's easy to make something worth while when you are doing it illegally. Yu!-Gi!-Oh! has a following and sells well. If you're a crook, why not counterfeit their cards for profit? The MLB logos are collectible. Countless people have said they will only buy cards with logos on them. If you're a crook, why not use logos on your cards when you are contractually obligated NOT to? Money is king in a "for-profit" business. If you're a proven crook who owes millions and millions of dollars, why use authentic, game-used memorabilia in your cards when the lemmings won't know the difference anyway? |

I don't do it for Dr. Price. I do it so those unsuspecting collectors know the truth about Dick and his company of crooks. (Dick is the head honcho at upper deck).

I really wonder how theyre gonna be able to fulfill some of the redemptions in this product, now tht MLB is on their case. I guess this may make those redemptions voidable.
