(tiger And Sandy Via Upper Deck)
(TIGER AND SANDY VIA UPPER DECK)
Now here is an interesting story. What do you think Tiger Woods might collect? How about Sandy Koufax. According to a Canadian Publication, Canadian Press, Woods recently received a Sandy Koufax signed ball which was personalized. Both Woods and Koufax share the same birthday, December 30 and Woods grew up a Dodger fan. Who else epitomizes the long tradition and history of the club from Brooklyn to Los Angeles than Koufax. Both have been with Upper Deck and reportedly it was a UDC connection which brought the ball to the collector. (Tiger Woods even has athletes he follows.) It seems the golfer, who has a contract with UDA for autographs and memorabilia, asked an UD official if he could get him a Koufax signed ball next time Sandy was around. A short time later the personalized baseball was produced and Woods was stoked. "Koufax is the man," he said. "I've got it at home in my bedroom, right there." Evidently it was only the second sports autograph Woods has sought over the years. The other he received is a pair of trunks used in a 1977 fight and signed by Muhammad Ali. The two met several years ago and Woods asked for something signed, anything. He figured an index card was fine. Ali went him many times better with the trunks. Woods, who doesn't sign golf balls, is one of the most sought after and most expensive autographs in sports. He has worked with UDA to battle forgeries over the years. -The Brill report |
