What's the latest story?
I think he's shown poor leadership currently. Not even a Spurs thing, just downright doggin the boys.

yeah i wish i could say i remember a timeout when he played where he controlled the huddle and was a leader (like Tony or Manu do). Now the fact that he hasn't said anything shouldn't be surprising. My original post was to call him out on his lack of off the court skills.
Now he's a guy that wants the LA market, Jordan contract, and big time attention but has no ability to work for it (off the court) and it's showing. |

There's been lots of talk here in SA over the past few years about how he just doesn't have the leadership traits that David and Timmy - or even Tony and Manu - have displayed.

Probably Not Or the dialogue between Kawhi and his people with the Spurs org? Probably Not Do people jump to conclusions? Yes

I love this mentality. Invest $200 million into a guy and give them everything they want in life. THEN they will change their personality. It's up to the teams to make high risk investments based on these immeasurable attributes. What ever happened to a player having to work for their glory?

Let's put it this way. If I have guys like Brown/Tatum or a guy like Simmons or a guy like Ingram or any of these young talented SFs I am not trading those types for Kawhi post injury/absence from showing up for his own team's playoff games.
If I am some team that really needs a star and has nothing to lose to take a shot and/or a team willing to rent him for a year to win a title like a Houston/OKC etc I say go for it.

Not sure if this is serious but you have a guy who actually went mute when his teammates needed him the most. 1 interview all season. Absent while your team is battling. If it’s hurt feelings, that’s another trait real leaders don’t possess. The media loves this because they themselves are writing the story, creating the narrative and eating off the buzz
A guy who could call a press conference from a toilet but decides not to talk while the world trashed his team, coach and organization that poured so much into him Last edited by spurs50fan; 06-18-2018 at 03:33 PM. |

Not a leader as of now, of course things could change. A huge trait of being a leader is to be out there with your team every single night to motivate and support them even when injured.

None of this rests on Pop's shoulders? He is such an idiot in interviews. And everybody is like, In person Pop is great. I'm not so sure, it feels like he runs his NBA team a lot like a college team. To me this is Kawahi in SA was a lot like Jordan at NC, Pop is a control freak, Luke Walton is the total opposite, both in coaching style and personality. Nobody is as smart as Greg Popovich THINKS he is.

It’s ok not to like Pops style and demeanor towards media, etc but facts over decades are there for the viewing. That’s what makes all of so odd. But bringing up his name in a thread on leadership gave me a chuckle |
