Default Coffee Drinkers, What's Your Poison?

If I'm buying:
Starbucks Grande Bold w/ cream and 2 Splenda

If it's free:
Starbucks Hot Caramel Macchiato (sp?) upside down with an add shot

At home:
Whatever is in the cupboard

3...2...1...GO!

Sumatra of any kind. I buy the gourmet expensive stuff because when I drink it, I want to taste it.

I like medium roasts. I was buy whatever k-cups were on sale but I got a re-usable k-cup. I just used my last scope this morning of foldgers. (It was on sale and I had a coupon). Took me over 2 months to use it all and was much more cost effective than buy k-cups every other week. I will see what is on sale tomorrow and get that.

I am also 32. I didn't start drinking coffee until 2 years ago, when my youngest was born. During the work week, I drink 2-3 cups daily. On the weekends, I only have 1 cup in the morning.

Long time coffee drinker that suffers from recent acid issues. I have no choice but to drink and eat foods with low acidity.

Starbuck: Blonde Veranda with 1/4 of it milk. (Yea its light but cant take the acidity of coffee anymore)

At home: Kicking horse coffee. Again more milk than anything.

Drink about 1 cup a day. Either a tea or a coffee.

I drink a pot of coffee per day.

I buy all my beans from Coffee Bean Direct and grind each morning before brewing.

Today's poison:
Peru High Grown - Regular Coffee - Roasted Coffee - Coffee Bean Direct

Three of my favorites:
Indian Monsooned Malabar - Regular Coffee - Roasted Coffee - Coffee Bean Direct
Dark Ethiopian Yirgacheffe - Regular Coffee - Roasted Coffee - Coffee Bean Direct
Tanzanian Peaberry - Regular Coffee - Roasted Coffee - Coffee Bean Direct

I purchased my car 13 years ago from the capital gains I earned on Starbucks stock and to this day I have still never been to a Starbucks. I prefer to brew my own.

Here in Boston it is really about Dunkin vs. Starbucks. I generally go with Dunkin (the less classy, more "watered down" option) because I like the flavor way more than Starbucks, which I find to taste strong/nasty and it gives me a stomach ache, each and every time I drink it. In that context, I'm talking only about Starbucks regular coffee (blonde, Pike, bold, etc). I do, however, like their espresso based drinks; I drink their cappucinos and also like their chai drink. And, this time of year I'm a huge fan on their PSL (pumpkin spice latte), but a venti of those things comes out to $5 so it isn't something I get very often because I cannot consciously spend that much on a single coffee drink.

When I have more time (weekends, etc) and can break out to places other than Dunkin and Starbucks there are a couple cafes around Boston that brew really great coffee (shout out to Boston Common Cafe in the North End!) that I much prefer over the two former establishments.

My non-regular favorite place to get coffee outside of Boston is Juan Valdez. Yes, the Colombian coffee name. They have tons of cafes inside of Colombia but have also opened a few in select cities in the U.S. I have been to the one in NYC for example, but there isn't one here in Boston at this point.

Coffee is my friend, and I treat it well.

Search the site name and 'code' in a search engine and usually you can find a discount code. (free shipping or $5 off is popular)

I buy in 5lb quantities because of the price break (usually two types at a time.) The one pound prices are really high. The site prefers volume sales. I've been a disciple for quite a while. They roast within 24hrs of shipping and ship fast. The UPS guy almost always comments about the great smell his truck had that day.

My wife prefers the flavored, but 5 pounds of one flavor gets old for me fast. I wish I had coffee drinking friends here so that I could go in with several families and buy in bulk and split up.

EDIT: The code I used in July is still working. CBDEAL gets you $5 off

I hope you use a French press when you drink the really good stuff.

I love dark roasts with only half and half.

Rook Roasters Nicaragua or Kona

Weekdays is simply a drip brew with a gold plated filter. I've experimented with many filters and the gold filters are worth it.

A good press is still the best for a flavorful cup. My sister mails me Kona from time to time, but I don't often buy the super high end stuff. I drink too much to get hooked on $30/lb coffee. I stay clear of Jamaica Blue Mountain for that reason.

Kona coffee is less acidic if you've never tried it. Something to do with the soil out there I think. My gut isn't the best either so I know how that goes.

If I'm buying- Dunkin Donuts
If it's free- Dunkin Donuts

I did try the Blond roast Starbucks once and it was OK.

Finally I had a sip from a cup once of that coffee that is like $100/lb. It's is the coffee that some rat/monkey like animal eats the coffee bean in the shell and craps out the bean and they collect it and sell it.

I will find a link and post it.

You have to give them credit, they essentially singlehandedly ushered in the $2 cup of coffee.

But yes, I don't understand how anyone drinks their daily brews. They are downright terrible. The only thing I'll get there is the Veranda Blonde, and I always ask for them to do a fresh K-Cup (kind of a oxymoron, I know).

Coffee snobs...

I basically treat coffee as a mechanism for caffeine delivery, and not necessarily something in which I savor the flavor (poet and didn't even know it!).

Now, in terms of beer, sure, it's an alcohol delivery mechanism, but it has to taste good, too...Sam Adams FTW!
